I already have it as well.
It's for Painkiller Redemption
You can create a giveaway or just give it to someone that doesn't have it.
But thanks anyway
I wouldn't mind taking it ;)

I showed you a key that did. I've also seen it happen when they rename their game. Some names are used by multiple games too. They asked if you could trust it, and while the activation message displayed is accurate, you can't just go off that. You have to actually click to see what it is.
I too never had issues with the plugin, been using it for years. But, as with every project - there might be hiccups...

Another way to check which game it is - is through the developer tools, Network tab. Then try to claim the key and look for the "post" request, something like:

Then in the "Response" tab - look for "line items", it'll tell you the name of the game. You'll see that with your key steam returns "Over City" and not "Panda Run" so in this, if the game was indeed "Panda Run" - it's a probably a problem on steam side and not steamdb.

Is this doable from the web, without the extension? If yes, it should be possible to make a script to POST/GET the key from the terminal and parse the result.
The "post method" doesn't require the extension. That's the response from steam - it has nothing to do with steamdb - in the example above I ran it without the extension.

Appart from steam and steamdb, it can be done as a javascript boormarklet, using any firefox scripting addon and the easier one, asf. As easy as typing redeem <key> or !r <key> and it throws the same result.

Knowing I can use asf I won't waste time on the script...

Thanks everyone for sharing the info about this.

It seeems you already can.

Using the used key from yesterday, you can see it already returns the appId and name of the game.

It works for used keys so I guess it will work too for unused ones. Will test when I have one to try.

When you give it a key that returns an error it will always give you that message. That way you'll know that the key was unused on that bot instance.
If you give it a valid key (or one that the bot doesn't have on its library) it will be activated.

Afaik, only way to know if a key is good without using it is to contact Steam support.
