When you give it a key that returns an error it will always give you that message. That way you'll know that the key was unused on that bot instance.
If you give it a valid key (or one that the bot doesn't have on its library) it will be activated.

Afaik, only way to know if a key is good without using it is to contact Steam support.

Yes, I know. My doubt was on how to know the game name from an already owned game without the browser (neither the console nor extensions), so asf is the better option.
