I remember something like that on AOL, except it made your floppy go crazy checking for a disk...I also added something similar into a joke virus that made all the users windows shake randomly along with the mouse (preventing menu selections) while flashing different color title bars, disabling hotkeys (like alt f4) and opening and closing the drive trays...among other things.

As much as it was a joke and not meant to do any harm...thing was nearly impossible to remove while running
