I would like to see physical games become available again.

They still do physical copies for a lot of games. Console mostly, but there are also collector's editions on all platforms, with the price tag to match.

Having shelves full of games in their boxes was a badge of honor.

More money, more honor?

Lots of Steam games get special edition physical releases (especially on Switch), which are always cool. Digital games can get delisted from stores, so sometimes physical is the only way to keep them. Also, if you're a huge fan of a game, you might want the poster, plush, steelbook, or whatever extra goodies they make for the physical edition.
