Thread to post lists of games worth playing. 🕹️
...
1 🕹️ Please no discussions. For that go to GAMER'S LAIR
2 🕹️ Please only 1 post per person. If you want to review a game maybe we should start a new thread for that.
.... (If you have many lists, you can create more posts but please make it very clear what the difference is between the posts.)
.... (For example: best 20 short games, best 10 endless games)
-> removed as per suggestion of Nirjor.
3 🕹️ Please no foul or offensive language.
4 🕹️ Steam-links are encouraged.
5 🕹️ Sharing what you play at the moment is great!
...

Playing less and less at the moment: AdVenture Capitalist -> but do not start this game, it is a highly addictive clicker.
Not good: Heileen 2: The Hands Of Fate on Steam -> visual novel, too long. Ebele is a nag. Feels too much like work keeping everyone pleased.
...
❤️: Heileen 1: Sail Away -> short visual novel, dating game. Very relaxed.
❤️: Endless Fables: The Minotaur's Curse on Steam -> hog with puzzle solving. Great music, great graphics. Very relaxing.
Easy puzzles, I played it on the easiest level ;), did not need a hint. Some stuff is difficult to see because of the background and that is probably the way the developers intended it. (11 april 2022)
❤️: Sid Meier's Ace Patrol -> turn-based dog fight in WW I. Simplistic, short, sweet. Played it first on a tablet. Just one more go. (5 july 2022)
❤️ : The Secret Order 5: The Buried Kingdom -> another hog. Music is a little sad. Some harder puzzles even on easiest level. (9 march 2023)
❤️ : The Secret Order 6: Bloodline -> another hog. Some puzzles need clicking in just the right place (played on expert level). (12 march 2023)
❤️ : 4 Elements -> match 3-or more. Great relaxing game with nice music. (15 march 2023)
❤️ : Amulet of Time: Shadow of La Rochelle -> Nice hog with varied puzzles. Probably relaxed when played on easy level. (21 march 2023)
❤️ : The Emerald Maiden: Symphony of Dreams-> Hog, with beautiful scenes. Some things are a bit illogical. (5 april 2023)
⏳: The Descendant on Steam -> On shortlist, tip from Mystery93.

League Of Legends , toxic community but best moba ever I am still hooked since about 6 years.
Doom 3 Bfg edition. I bought here on Indiegala. It is worth, you have Doom 1 Doom 2 and Doom 3 with dlc.
A great classic for fps lovers, it is old but gold! I never get bored of those games.
Steamworld Dig chilling platform game with digging exploration. No grinding, short and easy to beat (5 hours). After completed it I'm starting Steamworld 2

Amazing -
Chroma Squad - Amazing turn-based tactics game. I'm a sucker for the genre so call me biased, but this is great. The concept is interesting, and the execution complements it really well. Impeccable blend of strategy and micro-management.
Stardew Valley - I never liked farming sims before I played this, do I need to say more? The dungeon crawler part helps in making this more appealing to me, but the best aspect of the game is undoubtedly the open-endedness. Only issue is that there was some occasional stuttering.

Alright -
Wolfenstein 3D - Old is gold and this is raw, unpolished and taken straight out of the mine kind of gold. It's amazing, for when it was made. It hasn't aged well, but it hasn't aged badly either. The biggest thing to note are the maps, which aren't that good by today's standards. There's fun to be had, but I wouldn't be surprised if you dropped it after a while. Love the voice acting and gunplay in the game though. However, the Steam version is absolute-
3 🕹️ Please no foul or offensive language.
-ly awful. I recommend using ECWolf mod to play, increases the resolution and few technical stuff while keeping the same gameplay. I also wish they ported the Mac version as it has far more features, better graphics, more guns and more campaign missions. There's this mod called Mac-enstein but I can't find an actual download. There are also tons of official expansions and mods which are available for download online. P.S. Forgive me for judging a 1992 game by modern standards, just saying it isn't as fun as it would have been then.

Meh -
PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS - Ok first things first, why did the re-brand the game to PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds: Battlegrounds? I know they wanted to erase the memory of PlayerUnknown but come on, plain old PUBG works. Anyhow, decided to try it after it went F2P, and I think the game would be decent if they finished it. The textures load in after I've dropped, maybe because I was playing on PS4, but it's not like the graphics are good either - especially the lighting, it just feels weird. The map design is bland and boring, although the gunplay and driving feels good. Another thing good to note is the variety of guns and vehicles, it feels like they kept each player in mind, although it's clear that the RNG is hell-bent on giving you that same shotgun every time. Might be appealing to someone else, but it's not quite it for me. To be clear, that is the sole intention I kept this in the list.

Others -
Thanks for the suggestion!
SteamWorld Dig - Downloaded it because it was a measly 89 MB, and it's pretty good. I don't particularly like the art style (personal preference, so don't take my word on this), but I like its focus on mining while being a decent platformer. I haven't played a lot, very little actually, so I'm not ranking it just yet, will update later.
Half-Life- I wish I could play it but I lost my mouse and yeah.... No issues other than the compressed audio, which is obviously because it's old, and for some reason I had some freezing/stuttering issues.

2 🕹️ Please only 1 post per person.
That means we have to update the same post, if I'm not wrong?
If you want to review a game maybe we should start a new thread for that.
I tried keeping it short (really! I kept quite a few of the games I've been playing out of the list...), so I hope it's not long enough to be considered a review, but when I feel like writing, I REALLY write. I'm sorry if it's too long. If it is, I'll delete the post.

And Tetris is a visual novel...
That worth playing, of course. But i can't propose something on PC, in my opinion the best ones was on Nintendo's handheld consoles: Tetris DX on GameBoy Color and Tetris DS on Nintendo DS.

Ok, i just had a blast with an itch.io free game : Anger Foot by Robbie Fraser, Jem Smith, hyphenza, Jaybooty, LolthersArt
FPS, where you smash doors and people with your foot, also with guns after that, this is greatly done, and extremely fun.
You can do it in less than an hour (and there are achievements also, so more if you want), someone who likes quick skill FPS try it and tell me !

Games I think are worth playing right now:

Final Fantasy XIV
Lost Ark
Needy Streamer Overload
Touhou Series

Not usually a fan of MMOs, but those two really got me hooked on the genre and are perhaps as good as they're ever gonna be. I became super into raiding and doing dailies on them.

Needy Streamer Overload is a great depiction of how streaming culture is nowadays and how it impacts streamers. The subject matter and gameplay is pretty fun.

Touhou is just a great shmup and a series with a cult following that I've been into for the last several years of my life.

First day on the job, and I can already declare you IndieGala employee of the decade. 😎

I don't really have the time to talk them up at the moment, but for now I'll just quickly mention:
My top four favorite video games of all time, the ones I have the most fondness for, have gotta be:
(Of course I had to use a bulleted list for these! 😁 )

So, yeah, these games are worth playing, if you love a good adrenaline rush.

A fellow shmup fan? I'll add a few of my non-Touhou favorites:

Mushihimesama Futari
Dodonpachi Resurrection
Coryoon
R-Type

Speaking of Mushihimesama, I saw an arcade stick at a used store in Tokyo (not Akiba, it was in Ueno iirc). I stared at it for a while and didn't buy it for lack of space in my luggage. I regret that now, I should have paid for more luggage to bring this beauty home:

Most of my suggestion or games I usually play are slightly old. Cause I only got my potato pc like 2 years ago. So think my posts as sharing my first experience with older games.
Hades
A solid experience. A rogue like game with great music. Each run takes about 20-40 minutes. So perfect for a quick break. An option called "Pact of punishment" gave huge replay ability.
Slay The Spire
Another roguelike but also a card game. The idea works so well. Each run takes a little over an hour, even less depending on your skill. I ain't that good. I play it on steam & on phone too. I have 72 hours playtime on steam & I feel like I barely scratched the surface of this game's potential.
Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor Game of the Year Edition
Ever play a game & you are like this game is onto something. Think of it as sort of arkham game style combat, brutal execution with Assassin Creed type stealth. The nemesis system showed great potential in this game.
Assassin's Creed Black Flag - Gold Edition
I never bought ubisoft games cause I am worried if there will be issues. But I bought this game yesterday. I now have 18.1 hours play time within 48 hours. It's sad cause the only thing that is holding this game back is the name "Assassin's Creed" in it so there will never be Black Flag 2. It is so good. In 18 hours, I have gone treasure hunt, hunted whale, sharks, so many naval battle, I feel like I am in Pirates of the Caribbean. I don't think I am even halfway through. I am completely ignoring the main quests. Just exploring the sea.
Oblivion Game of the Year Deluxe
I know Skyrim made Elder Scrolls more popular. But Oblivion deserves more love. Excluding the horse armor, it has one of the best dlc ever. The quality of the quests are simply better than Skyrim. It is much more polished. It's one & main issue is levelling. So simply take a few minutes to read what the issue is & you will have no problem. Oblivion made me interested in trying Morrowind.

So remember when I said I am playing witcher 1, So I finished it in a week. 😅
Figured I should share my steam recommendation.

The Witcher: Enhanced Edition Director's Cut
I first had this game installed from gog. Started to play for a few hours, stopped playing for a few days & never played it again. So I restarted my playthrough multiple times & lost interest multiple times.

This time I had some free time & I figured that I want to try to finish the game at least once.
Obviously one of the biggest criticism of the game is the combat. My first playthrough was about 50 hours (I am not good at finishing game fast) & the way core combat works never changed. I click on an enemy, during the attack animation there is a glow, I click it again to combo, again animation continues, glow, again click & keeps going for 5 combo.

So why was I ok with that for 50 hours? It's cause of alchemy. Alchemy basically elevated the game play for me. Preparation of potion & oil (there is also bomb which wasn't needed for me) depending on the enemies knowledge from bestiary or npc gossip greatly improved my enjoyment.
If you check, some reviews or guides will mention to play on hard difficulty even on first run & that is mainly because of alchemy. Cause for hard difficulty, you will need alchemy & it adds so much.
That's one of my regret. That I played on normal difficulty. On normal difficulty, as long as you have vitality regeneration potions & use the aard sign, you are already almost guaranteed to win. The only boss that was a real challenge for me was a boss in the final chapter.
Aard sign can stun or knockdown many enemies & then you can one shot them instantly even from full health.

So how did I still enjoy the combat in normal mode that much if its that easy? The reason is because it greatly reduced the time to beat a group of enemies be it weak or strong. And there are a lot of battles against groups of enemies.
For example, when I fought against 1 royal wyvern normally, it took so much time. Then used oil, couple of potions to boost dmg, vitality & endurance regeneration & I beat a group of them so easily. It was an amazing feel.

Next, the story. It's very interesting & believable. I loved it from chapter 1-3 most. Chapter 4 felt a bit weak. The big villain was a bit predictable. But the epilogue ending & some of the cut scenes in it were such a plot twist for me. It was completely unexpected. And many of the npc are interconnected which also amazed me. For me, many quests were simply just some exp but it actually had consequences.
That kid Alvin shocked me the most. The kid I saved & thought to be basically on the level of tutorial quest was something else. I also enjoyed the music a lot.

Now the bugs. Unfortunately, there were various crashes. Early to mid game, it rarely crashed. But late game, it crashed a lot more. And an annoying bug in the last chapter & epilogue, I couldn't use any sign sometimes. At first I thought since I used alchemy a lot more, maybe it's a side effect of having too much toxicity due to using potions. But nope, I simply couldn't use sign during many retries.

Now, again, combat is a weak point of this game & alchemy improves it to a certain level. But there are times where the game simply keeps throwing enemies at you & it just gets annoying. Get the drowner repelling talisman. It doesn't work always (not sure if intended or bugged) but you will spend a lot of time in swamp or sewer & you don't want to waste time fighting drowner.
Unfortunately, even with talisman, the drowners don't really stay far. So sometimes you will still have to chase them & kill them just to sit in a fireplace to rest, level up or make potions.

All in all, I recommend this game. The story was engaging enough for me to be interested & I am satisfied with combat plus alchemy. Even though I rambled a lot about alchemy, you don't need it that much normal mode so you play it while being relaxed.
A remake was announced so you can choose to try this game then, the original game is also free on gog with their launcher. That is also an option.

2D Fighter: Skullgirls, Samurai Shodown V Special, Gauro Mark of the Wolves, and Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R (all use sprites)
3D Fighter: Tekken 7 (Virtua Fighter series would be listed if it was on PC and SoulCalibur 6 would be if Reverse Edge was deleted)
Action RPG: Tales of Berseria and Scarlet Nexus (switching between character abilities in battle is fun)
Beat'em up: Yakuza 0 (even the side quests and mini-games in the game are real good)
Flight Simulator: F-19, F-117A, and Star Wars X-Wing Series (they are old games that hold up to this day)
FPS: Quake (the player moves like they are supposed to in a FPS, like a bunny rabbit!), Dusk (Quake like game with easier bunny hopping)
JRPG: Chrono Trigger (my favorite jrpg. Its team members also worked on Xenoblade and I'm playing that at the moment)
Metroidvania: Hollow Knight (it is amazing. The gameplay, music, and art are top notch and it is hard!), Iconoclasts, Wuppo, and Catmaze
Parkour: Cloudbuilt (they are re-releasing Super Cloudbuilt on a new engine)
Platformer: Sonic Mania (very good 2D Sonic game)
Point and Click: Phantasmagoria (it has a great story and actors)
Puzzle: The Talos Principle (it will take you to philosophical AI heaven!)
Racing: Need for Speed Hot Pursuit and Sonic All-Stars Racing Transformed Collection
Shmup: Hellsinker. (the thinking person's shmup), GundeadliGne and Gundemonium Recollection (they have excellent spritework)
Third-Person Shooter: Tomb Raider 2013 (really enjoyed using the bow and exploring the island)
Visual Novel: Doki Doki Literature Club (don't read anything about it and play through it several times without uninstalling)

Hello again. Wanted to share my experience with some of the games I recently finished.

ENDER LILIES: Quietus of the Knights
A very good metroidvania game. Worth it just for the music alone. Player friendly. While there are some difficult bosses, the game gives you lot of quick lv up, relic (& relic slot) & hp boost. So you can equip a lot of relic to get powerful instead of worrying what to pick. The endings are kinda expected. But the story is decent & the journal helps you to re read older notes to understand the story. You as a player can control 3 spirits stand from Jojo & have 2 team of spirits which you can switch any time during combat. The control is very good & responsive.
Iratus: Lord of the Dead
Honestly one of the reasons I played this game is because the idea of playing as a necromancer in a game just sounds really cool. Especially having summons. The other reason being just how the monster or game looks.
If you ever wanted to play or have played "Darkest Dungeon", I feel like this can give a similar experience.
Now this game is much more player friendly. Like lot more. So more casual level players can enjoy this without worry. Right at the beginning, when I saw the minions I can raise, I wanted a team of 4 werewolves. Not even a joke. But I feel that would have been a bit boring.
So I used 2 werewolves in my team of 4 monsters. The game has like 5 dungeons. You can finish in 15 hours. Maybe faster if you want to rush it but isn't really needed.
Planescape: Torment: Enhanced Edition
I have no prior experience with these type of games. So I was skeptical cause I wasn't sure if I would enjoy it.
But this game just amazed me in every way I could imagine.
Now a warning: This game has a lot of text. So again, if you don't like to read text & want to get into the action then this game probably isn't for you. But for me this was perfect cause I am completely ok with reading text & as I mentioned I had no idea with combat with these games, so I am more comfortable reading than fighting. This game rewards exploring & talking. No joke, you will get exp, remember memories just by talking.
And the story, my god. Like I don't think I will ever experience any similar story ever. I want to share more,ok but this game really deserves multiple playthrough without any guide or info. That's just how good the story is. The way the story unfolds is just amazing & I am just amazed as to what the player did, just how much one character can achieve. It's just really cool.
Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines
Another one of my fantasy game. The reasons why I love this game cause the idea of vampire society blending in modern society is just intriguing for me. Like it's looking at a modern world from a different perspective. This game is & always will be a cult classic. The size of the game world is perfect. The dialogue and voice acting is amazing, music is good. It doesn't matter where you check. Every review of this game will call it a flawed masterpiece & that's just how this game is.
I even played the original vanilla game. Didn't even use the unofficial patch but even then it was a good experience.
I really hope that bloodlines 2 gets released eventually.
