A guy left a false negative feedback

Hi. I hope this can be resolved. I created a giveaway, the key is legit, it's a key taken from Twitch Prime for a game on Origin. The... "kind" person left a negative feedback.

My guess is that he tried to put it in steam, whereas the giveaway description said explicitly it was an origin key.

Surely something can be done? It's unfair. And honestly i am quite a bit pissed off.

'Welcome! Giveaways are riffs that users create by giving guaranteed Indiegala keys or steam games.
Enjoy and good luck!'

Your winner is technically right. The IG giveaway system is for Steam games. You have to copy the Steam store page of the item and then enter the Steam key when you create a givewaway. You can't override this with a disclaimer in the giveaway description. Especially so because people can join your giveaway from the list without ever opening your specific giveaway and reading your disclaimer.

If you want to talk with them you could try writing on your winner's forum profile (but many users never visit the forum) or adding them on Steam if they linked their Steam account to their IG one.

Hmm.

Swell, i won't start a discussion on semantics.

But that guy either:
-Did not even think to try the key on Origin
-Used it, took the game, and then left the negative feedback after getting a free game

Doesn't depict a nice picture of that person. And i do hope he reads here.

But then again, if it states explicitly Steam games, i have not much to add, although i still consider that individual despicable to say the least.

But you... you i thank for the answer. It was not the answer i hoped for, but i would be a tad crass to hold it against you. Thank you then :)

for completing the giveaway form your only option is to input a steam link, so it's obvious that indiegala giveaway system is only dedicated for steam keys...but i understand that if the winner has activated the key in origin, he must have read the description you provided...not a friendly move...
but you took the risk to win a negative feedback and there it is

He did not claim the code. I just tested it on Origin, he didn't even have the brain necessary to check the giveaway description, he just spent a second and ruined my reputation while being a complete tool.

Swell, i won't risk another giveaway from Origin (although the first one went okay, it was for Battlefield V, and the guy left a positive feedback).

This is the kind of things that really piss me off. When one mentally challenged imbecile causes harm and perhaps doesn't even understand how or why.

Probably wears his mask under his nose.

FFS.

And support doesn't even bother to respond.

Support won't fix this for you most likely. The giveaways here are largely unmoderated and rife with cheaters. The likelihood that they'll intervene in a case on your behalf where you didn't follow the giveaway rules is slim. They don't even bother to shut down outright scams either.

On the bright side your reputation is not ruined at all with a single negative feedback. An occassional negative happens to everyone here. Many users are simply unreachable (no linked Steam profile, no IG forum presence) so if something goes wrong sometimes there's no way to rectify the situation. It's not worth raging about it.

You are most probably right. Thank you for the answers, they have been helpful, clear, and honestly much nicer than i have experienced elsewhere.

So yes, maybe i am not happy with what happened, but thanks nevertheless for the exchange. I hope you win some giveaway of something you like. If the game interests you the key is yours, just say it, it's Knockout City on Origin.

On a side note... scams? How can someone scam in giveaways? Or are you just referring to people who do not ever give a valid key? Just curious now.

Thanks for the kind offer but it's not my type of game.

As for scams. Beta keys are regularly given away instead of keys for the full game. If the game is priced on the Steam store already you can earn lots of IG experience that way. Last month the giveaway section was swamped with Back 4 Blood beta keys while right now Black Geyser beta keys are used similarly.

An even more nefarious scam is to start a fake giveaway for a very expensive DLC while providing a key to a DLC that was given away for free. The winner will get the error message that they can't activate the key because they don't own the base game and most don't know how to check what the key is actually for. Many fall for it and give positive feedback or don't leave feedback in which case the starter of the giveaway gets an auto-positive in 3-4 days.

Really? That's sad. And you say that the black geyse keys are for a beta? I Placed all my points there because i actually love single player RPGs. Just played Wrath of the Righteous and it is a blast.

Indiegala made it too convenient for users to enter giveaways from the listing page instead of needing to enter into each individual giveaways to read any descriptions. Man sadly I don't win giveaways (no luck) else I will definitely be super pleased getting an Origin key as the Origin key giveaways are usually for really good games sometimes.

Yep apparently they all are demo keys and if takes your fancy I can even provide you with a key (for the demo of course, and no I don't create such giveaways) without asking for anything in return

scamming is super easy here, because there is an auto-positive-feedback feature, as MadLibrarian stated. If you want to see the extent of the scams - the last like 15 pages of this thread are filled to the brim with reports of the high-value DLC scams Report Giveaways Here

Thanks for the offer, but i got it from an intel website-thingie.

A shame, i was really excited by the idea that i could win a game that i actually wanted to play.

It's... well, it's a shame.
