Deceptive giveaways

What's deceptive about Think of Children? If game hasn't be released how can you be deceived into beleiving that it is a complete key? Game should be removed from available GAs (since only beta keys can be given away) if IG believes that those beta keys are against their rules.

Allowing to create such GA is quite confusing.

also a number of oddworld giveaways are not of the game linked to but the one from humblebundle given away for free. this is a major violation of the terms of service of this site.

Do you have a link to such giveaways rules? I can't find them. I think I've been banned for Think of Children giveaways or by being trolled with negative feedback. I've got like 64 positive and 3 negative GAs (trolled once already) and I can't access to GA section. I received no notice of this. I really don't think that 1 ic giveaways of a game which hasn't been released can't be treated as deceiving and I was not aware that Beta Keys could not be given away (as long as do not use a different steam store link).

There are no written rules (at least i'm not aware of any), so just use common sense and ask yourself those questions:
1. Did i pay for the game?
a) yes -> you can make a giveaway
b) no -> go to question 2
2. Was the game in a massive (massive = at least 1000 copies) giveaway or is it an alpha/beta test?
a) yes -> you CAN'T make a giveaway
b) no -> you can make a giveaway

Examples of GOOD giveaways:
- keys purchased from stores
- $0.01 games from Steamground or DailyIndieGame Store
- games from bundles
- games you won from raffles with 1000 copies or less

Examples of BAD giveaways:
- alpha/beta keys from MMOBomb or Alienware Arena or anything that will someday disappear from the winner's library
- games from massive giveaways that can be found on /r/FreeGameFindings
- fake giveaways (like giving a Woodle Tree Adventures key inside a GTA V giveaway)

If you still want some written rules - here are the ones from Steamgifts. It was here first and every other site is based on their idea. It's even more strict than Indie Gala...there they'd tell you "you have a week to buy the full game and give it to the winner, or you'll get banned" right after your first beta giveaway.

Ok, first of all thank you for your answer. I am quite aware of SG rules and I respect them. I did not know IG had similar rules, for example, in this moment there are from time to time Killing Floor, Walking Dead or Rising Storm GA which were for free. I like that feature because sometimes I missed a massive GA and I could obtain a key here. On the other hand, when I had spare keys of such massive GA, I offered them here rather than pasting it on a forum for farm bots to grab it. I never created a GA for a different game (like current Oddbox or Oddworld Abe's Exoddus).

Regarding this case in particular, I may be wrong, but I did use my common sense, and I understand that since there is no way of obtaining a full key of the game and its steam link was available it was an ok understandable GA. Indeed I got the key for myself because I'd like to try the game, but I've been given 4 keys. I'd not compromise my account for giveaways giving 50 experience.

This is the feedback I got for one of my 3 giveaways.

"Please, read the rules when creating GA. App-id specified not available. You are linking other App-id that is not available for purchase, so, no chance to buy the game and solve this GA. If you contact support I will agree to delete this GA."

It seems to be from a moderator. I don't know where I can read the rules ¯\_(?)_/¯, or as you say there are no written rules yet. I'll be attaching to this in the future.

Thanks!

I don't really think that you need a written rule to know that you shouldnt scam/decieve someone. The "Think of the Children" base game and beta keys has different app-ID's, so you're not giving away what you say you're giving away.

Think of the Children app-ID = 573600
Think of the Children Beta app-ID= 710750

Contact support, they can change the feedback to a negative

Ordinarily I would recommend you to also contact the ga creator to see if there has been a mistake and you can get a replacement key, but looking at his stats with 20k points earned for merely 4 giveaways it does seem kinda fishy. Whenever someone with those kind of stats win any of my ga's I contact support about them being possible fakes, and more often than not they get banned.

Nothing we can really do about closing fake giveaways or trades. All you can do is email support. I mean you can send me the info but all i can do is the same thing you would do. Email support.
