How does the SteamDB extension work to check if a giveaway is legit or not?
How does the SteamDB extension work to check if a giveaway is legit or not?arthur-sky, post: 54351, member: 429149scam shall be blacklistedHow does this even work exactly? Do they post some random game code hoping that at least one of the winners can't see if it's the same game and marks it as received since it's a DLC and most people don't know about steamdb extension?Kind of understand them since with just the challenge or bundles you probably will never reach level 7/8 or something, and support will probably do nothing about it so they can abuse system how much they want with no ripercussions.
You can use the SteamDB extension to see what game or DLC a key is for even if it fails to activate. User Cheerie demonstrated how to find that info by looking at the Steam activation page's source code, but the SteamDB plugin displays that info for you automatically. If the key matches the correct DLC but you don't have the base game, or if you already own whatever game the key is for, it'll just tell you what the key is for but not whether it's already been activated on someone else's account (you can find out that info by contacting Steam support directly).> How does the SteamDB extension work to check if a giveaway is legit or not?
Multiple accounts as well. If there are 12 entries, 8 of which are puppet accounts all doing the exact same thing they have 2:3 odds of winning and just giving themselves positive feedback.
There was a time when negative feedback meant something, users could get autobanned for having too much negative feedback. In the last year I've seen people with twice as much negative as positive, over a hundred in one case, with no consequences. They just keep making fake giveaways and banking on the occasional person not noticing.
