By claiming the above DLC 👆you also seem to claim this one👇🤔, Thanks to Saulios from FGF
Just wanted to add onto this, there are three or four other DLCs that are free as well, including a soundtrack.

I know they're free and all but I had so many problems with the launcher. I also had some controller problems, some lag, and almost no games would play offline. Which was a huge problem since I didn't have internet at my old house (I lived there for almost 4 years!). Only just got internet three months ago, before that I had to launch the games using a hotspot and then disconnect after launch. It was not ideal at all!
I agree, but you did ask if it was free on Epic awhile back

I have the same exact issues with the launcher, and no matter how many times I hunt (third-party apps aside for the controller issue)...it seems nobody found any solutions yet.

The ones I did find to supposedly launch the 'launcher' from steam for controller support have been removed or never worked in the first place.

I found one where you make hard links for the games themselves, but never even tested it since thats a serious pain for every game you wanna play, although I could probably make a simple script for that part 🤔

It still leaves offline play a problem...if you turn off cloud saves and turn on offline browsing mode you can play any game that doesn't require a DRM check during every launch, at least temporarily...but it still just makes Steam look good at the end of the day :ROFLMAO:

what do you mean?! o0

ASF is Archies Steam Farm (might have the title wrong but its easy to find), an open source card farmer, plus background game runner.

The command

!addlicense asf 701351

will add the game to your library (theres a button now so its almost pointless) but the other command

!play asf 1945990

will make the game pretend to run for an hour on low resource in the background

I don't use it myself, but I assume the

http://localhost:1242/welcome

is the port setting for that game to run.
👆What he said, except first you launch Archies Steam Farm (ASF), then you open your Web Browser (Firefox) and you put this into the Address Bar:
http://localhost:1242/welcome
This will open a GUI that you can use to send commands to ASF while it's running (it MUST be running!), that's when you do the other 2 commands.
First, Click Continue, Click Commands, Input the first command then hit enter, input the second command then hit enter.
!addlicense asf 701351 👈 First Command
!play asf 1945990 👈 Second Command

Wait a little more than 1 hour (to meet the OPQuest requirement), check your Steam Profile while logged into Steam in your browser by clicking your portrait (upper right)
it should say:
Currently In-Game
Minion Raid Epic Monsters

You can also use the Steam Client at the same time as running Archies Steam Farm and check your friends list to see what game Steam "thinks" you're playing (even though you're fake playing the game, you never even actually installed it)

Ya, what he said ⇑⇑⇑

I saved you absolutely no hassle trying to explain something I never used :ROFLMAO:

Sounds like a lot of hassle for sure!

Yeah Steam is just the way to go, the software and services are way better. Also the compatibility with linux is better, you can play epic games and gog games on linux through the Heroic launcher, but it's not as seamless in my opinion.

Actually I was just thinking of whipping up a script now (its actually not, typing it by hand would be)...either in a command prompt or Powershell, that would be the hassle :ROFLMAO:

Its storming here (again) and I want to at least test the hard link theory first before I did.

I was (actually still am) hoping the Steam Deck would seriously improve the linux compatibility, its practically what keeps Windows on my PC these day...and as of Windows 11 those days are over.

I'll have to talk to you and others here when the time comes and get some current opinions then on good linux gaming alternatives.

I'm not even concerned with the rest...although I didn't like the built in IDE that came with Ubuntu at the time, I've gotten much better at C++ since then and I'm sure so have the programs.

Doubt I'd be using Ubuntu anyways...but those are about the only 2 things my PC needs that I actually use Windows for...and honestly VC++ has just become an obstacle in my mostly C coded programs at this point

I've never truly gamed on linux because it was just way more hassle, and with multiple drives it was almost pointless...so I'll definitely be asking for opinions here when I switch over on that end.

Good luck!

That was me as well, gaming and livestreaming, but I found a way to do both without too much compromise.

Compatibility is an ongoing thing with the development of proton and different forks of proton since 2018. The steam deck though gives developers a reason to test whether their game works in proton on linux. Also Valve has been testing the whole steam library for compatibility, so far there are over a combined 5000 games that are verified (should work with no problems, tweaks, or scaling issues) or playable (may need tweaking to work correctly).

I'll be happy to help anyway I can!

That's the great thing about linux you don't have to stick with the same distro and you can install pretty much any DE you want!

Yeah I would stay away from Ubuntu as they have almost forced people to use a paticular software package format that is inferior to every other package format.

I'm not sure exactly what programs are available in linux to program.

Yeah getting NTFS formated drives to work with Steam on linux isn't ideal.

Ya, I doubt my script would work on linux...didn't even consider that one off hand.

I'm sure linux has a similar command although I never truly used even the Windows variant until lately...I have my Steam Library running off a big mechanical drive through a hard link to the steam folder on 2 different SSDs, one for Windows 7 and one for Windows 10.

It makes the game 'data' load on the SSD end while storing it on a much bigger drive, as well as being able to swap drives without concern of a game messing up the storage portion if somethings goes severely wrong.

Same concept as having a second library on a backup drive except Steam actually treats it as if it were installed on the SSD as well as the default directory.

Whether thats an oversight on Steams end or they just allow it, its extremely convenient...although I'm sure its not as fast as running purely off an SSD.

I have Epic and Origin setup in the same fashion, so my games travel with me, but don't actually 'run' off the data drive since it has no OS on it.

I also made a drive locking program for myself to be sure it can be prevented if I ever have the need, starts locked and unlocks with a simple click, i'm overly cautious to the point of it being considered a borderline mental condition

Sound pretty complicated as it is! Also sounds like a pretty cool setup.

You're way more tech savy than me, so once you get used to linux, I think you'll love it!
