Make sure you get one thats PC capable as well as stand alone, regardless what kind you get...personally if I were to buy another now, I'd go with a Vive, the tracking is way better and I FB keeps killing headset support on a whim as well as changing its terms over Meta.

Which is going to turn out to be social garbage anyways, a sad failed attempt at a somewhat Matrix/SOA type reality. The beginning of the end, but a very sad beginning, we are years away from getting THAT concept right...it'll be another 3 headsets (they kill off) before they even get a terrible one up and running decent heh.

Vive is much more pricey, but one headset has survived 3 different Oculus versions, give or take...and you can add alot more small but great accessories like finger tracking (Iron Man), or simple tracking strips to tracking ANYTHING in VR (think ashtray, coffee mug, etc) where the Rift at least has nothing of the sort, the Quest added AR to see the background but it sucks from what i've seen.

I'd need to buy the Vive Base Station to add those things and thats what the big cost difference actually is
Part of the reason why I was thinking of going with the Quest is because it can work standalone and with a PC (not sure if it would be compatible with ALL Steam VR games or not, but from what I gather, it should generally be pretty usable). But mostly because it's probably the most affordable. I don't know if I'll be able to convince the SO to let me buy a VR device or not, but I think I could make an argument for the Quest 2 on a decent sale. Don't think I could swing it for something pricier tho, lol. So I think I'd be OK with something on the cheaper/entry level end of the spectrum.

The reason I went with the quest was standalone.
Rift mode (pcvr) is an added bonus however I dont have a pcvr ready pc and the specs keep getting higher and higher.
I get why: it's so that you have the best experience possible/intended.
Not all steam vr games are compatible tho but it's clearly stated in game descriptions which headsets are supported.
On the flip side, some games are released for vr only and exclusive to Quest 2. (they may release for steam etc later tho)
Personal choices for everyone may differ. Price, longevity (the vive range like Nitrous pointed out), etc Then there's the Pico which is prob available where you are...?
Not pushing you to get any of them. Each to their own. Some ppl end up hating the VR experience.

someone won like 342k diamonds from diamond jackpot on lootboy - the amount seems insane to me basically 2.7k packs
If he waits for a guaranteed Steam/Amazon/etc... credit event, that could make him get at least 1300$ on Steam + 3420 games (as it's 25 packs for 2500 diamonds), including 300x Chicken Shoot Gold, 300x The Deed, 500x Regions of Ruins, etc... :ROFLMAO:

It's still insane even without a guaranteed event

Edit: Probably if there will be any upcoming they will end really fast if that guy waits
