Doom 1 and 2. Then you can try other old school games If you haven't played them, Quake and Duke Nukem 3d
All these games in Steam have current versions with native controller support. Bethesda has cleaned up its franchises, there is no complexities, the games are simply called Doom, Doom II and Quake, but they are updated, work on modern operating systems (although it is possible to run the original versions), support for controllers and the ability to directly in game to download and install mods. For duke 3d, there is a version from Gearbox - Duke Nukem 3D: 20th Anniversary World Tour - which is also updated for modern hardware and has an additional episode. Quake and Duke even have achievements. They are all updated very carefully and with love, but starting to play shooters from the early nineties is a bad idea. Simply because they will not show all modern possibilities and progress. No one begins to get acquainted with the point-and-click genre from games where there was text input of commands.

The example you have given is not completely accurate: they are different genre one is called text adventure (example Zork) and another is called point click adventure (example: Monkey Island, Maniac Mansion etc), while all those games we mentioned before are Fps games.

Dantifa? Its not on my list...I know there was a point during end of my last place and the move I lost track of a few additions...but I honestly don't remember asking for it or getting it
Hi WhatNitrous, nope.

I will improve the first hint: "hot NFSW avatar maker" and I will add a second one: our resident "vodka artist" ;).

And the winner is...

klingki

Congratulations! I'll send the key in pm.
Congrats to klingki!!! 🏅

And thank you very much to PurpleGreenTremors!!!

Thanks again to Pete for Deep Dungeons of Doom and Dungeons - The Dark Lord

I hate when those software wants the priority, first thing I do after install them is disable autorun. I've everything disabled even Steam autostart.
I have the important ones enabled (which is most of them in my rig lol), I bought a clean OEM version of Windows 7 Pro (that I made an upgrade DVD for 10 Pro with), so no third party bloatware gets installed I use just for my rig or for repair jobs when I need ALL the Windows tools that some versions don't come with.

But I need my GPU software and iCUE just for ARGB, sometimes I like my rig solid and others I want to show it off...but more than that I REALLY like to keep an eye on my temps and voltages.

I fucking despise iCUE, its likely the main problem 99% of the time, but its also how my rig has ARGB at all

I removed the Thermaltake fans entirely...talk about some weird fans, they have a built in chassis chip to connect, I'd have to splice them to connect them without it, and I will if I ever need to use them :ROFLMAO:

Samsung Magician I let run because its only really doing anything it shouldn't while on the Internet , but EVERYTHING does that.

I don't run my Mobo's extra software, just the one that lets me tweak the CPU speed and voltages.

I have ALL my game launchers disabled from autostart, half of them (especially Oculus) disabled entirely since it decides to turn itself on when VR starts and when I'm online it checks for updates without permission and then refuses to let me run it until I do them, which has fucked me a few times when I was on/off the net and wanted to play.

Rambling again, sorry (inserting spoiler block)
Me too after my desktop was flooded by games shortcuts I had to move them in a dedicated folder. lol
I don't care how powerful of a PC you have...I'm running a 24GB 3090...its STILL best practice in my experience to keep your Desktop and Start Menu as clean as humanly possibly ALWAYS.

Sometimes its worth the convenience, better than extra toolbars or docks/dockers floating over it at least, Windows itself is based more on convenience than resource management in the graphics department, particularly any version above Win 7...and they still haven't fixed the core API that all the basic drawing functions are using for general UI elements (Windows/Dialogs, Buttons, etc.) although they use 'some' custom ones for the Default UI like the Start Menu button and such.

I switch my UI back to Windows Classic, or as close as I can without using a 3rd party program (although some are actually pretty good), I would have to reinvent the wheel and make it myself because thats me haha. Even with the old functions its still less resource demanding as long as you keep it clean.

Having an animated desktop is just...well 🤦‍♂️
yeah wallpapers takes some resorces. I remeber when I had an old destkop pc with linux I used to see the resource comparison between a wallpaper and another one or between different graphic interfaces (xde, xfce, etc).
I hate animated wallpaper, they are really resource intensed, it is a waste of ram, I never used one.
I didn't read this during my rant above, but exactly my point and Windows is worse (I shouldn't talk PC here :ROFLMAO:)...I'm sure anyone who ran a slow or older PC/Laptop has seen the wallpaper or even folders on a solid background just 'melt' down the screen as it lagged.

Proof in point right there.

The Start Menu is more that it dynamically creates (now it modifies, which isn't as bad) every single time you click it or change it...I've made my own dynamic menus with icons/color etc. for adding custom commands back at the lower level with the original API used...its not so bad when you do it just to add something since it only needs to be modified that one time or when first creating the menu on program load

During testing big menu's though I noticed the killer resource hog it became after a few times (and yes I was releasing the memory lol), I can't even imagine the Start Menu doing it every single time with program icons that it probably uses the ExtractIcon API for at the lower levels of the code...which is a pretty ugly function IMO, and was simply never done right
You meant green screen behind her, or blue screen of death?:ROFLMAO:
Yeah a lot of artifacts there:LOL:, look at first photo it seems a videogame cutscene.
Exactly why I said Dragon Quest

But no, I meant Blue Screen...although the chickens certainly want her dead :ROFLMAO:

1681266227291~2.jpg

My sister is into cosplay and draws Manga, shes actually extremely talented IMO.
No:ROFLMAO:, I never seen it and haven't played it. I watched some video gameplay and I meant her style looked like some the Witcher character.
Just checking...Witcher is more realistic looking. Its not that you got the game idea wrong, just the wrong game

They're not cartoony at all, even in the classic games.
hehe lot of pirated games are infected. In the past people downloaded more frequently pirated games, now we have a lot of free games from steam, Egs and company
I've said this quite a few times, but last I read into it there was a Ransomware that nothing could remove, it encrypted all your files on your drive and insisted you pay to have them decrypted...in some cases they actually did decrypt them, in others you just got ripped off and fucked.

It was most found in pirated games, probably released by the devs themselves who were pissed off 🤣
Then you can try other old school games If you haven't played them, Quake and Duke Nukem 3d. I don't think those games supports natively the controllers because they were meant to play the way they were created (keyboard+mouse). I grew up with those games so for me it is more natural playing kb+mouse then with a controller.
I can't speak for Quake and Duke Nukem, but when we started this convo I checked DOOM (1993) and it shows controller support on the Steam page, I added them just to have for memory sake really lol.

Sorry for the rant fellas...lmao.

some...

Spec Ops: The Line satisfying 2012 to 2023 still runs great

Resident Evil 4 Remake Truth is expensive (wait for on sale) and its better than any resident evil out there with long campaign and lot of fps content with puzzles and best graphics so far.

Rage long forgotten but borderlands lovers must try this its just beautiful Rage Wikipedia 2011 to 2023 and runs smooth and still playable to this date

Atomic Heart wait for 50 percent of currently 20 percent off, game has anticipation and orgarsmico robotic sounds, nasty (girl robots etc) elements and one of the best openings of view and future. Game play is ok but that world details is satisfying. its should atleast be tried out.

Men Of Honor for the world of fps its a must try series, many delisted but somehow play it. İt has the spirit

Borderlands 2 with that overpriced commander Lilith DLC its a gem and fun its getting old but best of the series. Must be played once in this life time

Ahhh, much clearer now...like everything after some vodka. Pax

I thought you meant persons avatar, not 'peoples avatars' :ROFLMAO:

I beg to differ

I'd also like to beg for DOOM 3, but I won't :ROFLMAO:

I think it is still worth starting from old school, considering their community is very alive and if you want to renew the graphic there are tons of mods, the fun is infinite with mods created in 30 years.
Since there are a few minutes, let's then begin and end the most comprehensive discussion of all cinema that has ever existed.
Thank you all.

Playing games is playing games, It's not accumulating hundreds and thousands of them in a virtual library.
Playing games is playing games, not "playing" for days installing third party mods and patches.
So playing old games is more about old memories than about an adequate perception of reality.
Old games will give you absolutely no idea about modern trends, about modern controls, about modern structure of levels, about modern approach to telling the story, about possible activities, (possible) interaction between players, etc-etc-etc, other than run and shoot. A modern player will throw Duke at the fourth level, where all the fun will be running through the same gray dark corridors in search of a red card (Doom is a little better thought out in this regard, it will start to get boring only in the second episode). This is advice of the level that the grass was greener before, rather than any real comparison of what was and what is now. The fact that their community is still alive only says that medicine in the world is now at a fairly decent level.
The example you have given is not completely accurate: they are different genre one is called text adventure (example Zork) and another is called point click adventure (example: Monkey Island, Maniac Mansion etc), while all those games we mentioned before are Fps games.
But I did not give any specific examples, the task was to bring the appropriate level of the ratio of the old to the new. If you feel ready to talk about the evolution of the point-and-click genre, then we can do that, but if we talk about my main point, then you understand everything perfectly, even games with a full graphical interface of the late nineties are very outdated in in terms of ease of controls now.

Ok, idfc if he can actually see this response or not, that was fucking legendary :ROFLMAO:

And true.
even games with a full graphical interface of the late nineties are very outdated in in terms of ease of controls now.
Sadly, some of them still don't have controller support...maybe they should have simplified
player.GetButtonDown("Trigger") even more, maybe by not making programmers actually do the part for axis and gravity etc. themselves?...or allowing them to use VB6 :ROFLMAO:

That aside, I actually agree...your not going to get reflex training playing something like DOOM, hell your not going to get it playing anything except online death matches...I was just taking general Aim into consideration for a starting point

Which is why I was highly pushing toward Bullet Time, I know it helps me (and yet I still fucking MISS lol)...DOOM'd to never shoot in video games without an actual gun in my hands I suppose 🤷‍♂️

I lived in that era, and played SMK on SNES before CTR, then continued on to own CTR on PS1, and neither was it better by any means, but SMK will always be remembered as my first love of the genre.
Well, as I've said, I've done my research (through reddit comments mostly), and thankfully you're in minority (i.e. most ppl consider CTR and/or Diddy Kong Racing far superior to both SMK and SMK64)
If Street fighter had hooks, acid, flying through floors and walls, freezing opponents and a shit ton of blood, maybe....that one was a far stretch, the only thing those truly had in common were being limited to LP MP HP etc (the arcade pad style), and being 2D
...and being a fighting game with special attacks and combos, which wasn't to often at the time...
You know.
Thats fully animated, either OVER a real girl, or without a real girl at all...like I said, it reminds me of a character from the Dragon Quest series in a cutscene, its certainly not flesh and bone without some changes. Thats what I mean.
No, it's not fully animated. It's just a photo that was made years ago. Maybe some photoshoping may take place like all the models do, but it is a real photo, not CGI/AI made.
needing to call and register it and every single copy
what the point in pirating it then? my have had no registration)
Ok, you do remember when you first got here, right? I do.
You had a list of EVERY completed game on every "system" down to java that you kept track of, down to an exact count.
I remember you asking me the same about NES games...you definitely keep a record lol.
Oh, I ,ean not record, but the score (it's just so happened that the word "рекорд" is used in russian in the same way that englishmen used "high score").
Literally pure curiosity, with all this arcade talk you haven't hopped in once to mention old arcade machines you played, I wasn't sure if you were denied the pleasure entirely.
Even only 2-3 times kind of seems that way to me, considering I could walk to one as a kid.
Sorry, that sucks.
Well, yeah, it sucks...I've missed the SNES craze, played GB just 1-2 times in my life (both times it was Pokemon, haha), played the arcades only 2-3 times, and got my first PC at the age of 21. But then...
ENTER THE EMULATION!!
🤩🥳🤘

Thats not a girl, IRL. Period. I can't say it any more Engrish than that.
You're arguing with the facts. Boobs aren't real though🤭

No worries. I didn't see WhatNitrus' post, so that's partly my bad there.

Powers Of Hex
Wait....Metroid? With a wizard?? o0
I own it already (and don't know how, probably one of those SS)
But thank you for the offer and the GA (y)
Hi WhatNitrous, I'll give you a hint... from the "hot avatar maker". :ROFLMAO:
Greetings.
Nah, it was the @ctpax001rus initiative))
Entered for you thrice (y)

Anyone want to try Zeno Clash 2 so I can add it to the invalid keys thread?
Harsh reality of Feuda kes)) XDDD

've done my research (through reddit comments mostly),
be...jesus 🤦‍♂️

If we listened to the idiots of the universe, all your retro classic games would have been wiped off the map for god sake, your 32-bit Windows wouldn't get a single game supported anymore because it could have been 'improved' by using a 64-bit OS...even if it was something as simple as a sound API (and I've seen it happen to games SOLD with the requirements as Win 7 mid development believe it or not causing it to require Windows 10), different situation slightly since its another OS not the architecture, but there are obviously reasons programs REQUIRE a 64-bit OS, its certainly not to look pretty on the list of requirements.

Go do your research on that context and see what the 'majority' of rich pampered troll-souls who have nothing better to do with their lives than bitch and moan to each other have to say about outdated specs and operating systems being removed to enhance the quality of all games in general...because they have nice PCs mommy and daddy bought them to get them to go the fuck away since they never leave the house.

You know, the majority also had no love for Windows 7 online, but every single person I speak with IRL says they loved it an never would have switched, and last time I checked there were more programmers using Windows 7 (maybe as a dual OS like me, but regardless) for programming than any other OS in the WORLD.

The majority would prefer it gone publicly, but when you actually ask someone one on one that you know, they generally had a different opinion, and no offense to the general user base--but i'm going to think the majority of programmers had better reasons for staying on that OS than the people who needed help to find the login button :ROFLMAO:

I'm not even considering my own opinion, those were facts, not linux, not W8, not W10, Win 7. Of course its probably shifted now since Mic-Foolisoft practically killed it utterly by bullshitting that the SHA-1 algorithm was no longer secure and removing all the files needed to install most software, games included from the website. Like DirectX for example.

Ahem, anyways...

The majority are trolls, most of them peer pressured into what they troll about due to 'popular opinion', don't join them lol.
CTR and/or Diddy Kong Racing far superior to both SMK and SMK64
They are newer, the majority wasting their time bitching online are younger. That and what I said above are the end of the discussion for me

Like I said, I lived it...idfc what some children of the inter-korn who emulated it on a shitty emulator that didn't get the speed right say about it, ken did as well...and agrees. Like I said, one on one without pressure its a different story, reddit is the land of the troll 🤦‍♂️
what the point in pirating it then? my have had no registration)
Then it should never have been able to shut off, sorry...I pirated my copy to multiple other users (thanks Dell lmao) for repairs using a single licence code to the point they refused to activate them without me calling an 'automated' license line

They killed Windows 7, they certainly didn't care enough to chase down pirated copies for sure...sort of like chasing down NES emulators instead of PS4 ones.

Not gonna happen.
No, it's not fully animated. It's just a photo that was made years ago. Maybe some photoshoping may take place like all the models do, but it is a real photo, not CGI/AI made.
I'm seriously starting to think you've hit your head lately or something, everything coming out of your mouth is unreal :ROFLMAO:

Legit dude, i'm not even being an asshole intentionally, but you have gone completely insane...read how many people disagree with you about all these points.

I can't even, I just can't.
Well, yeah, it sucks...I've missed the SNES craze, played GB just 1-2 times in my life (both times it was Pokemon, haha), played the arcades only 2-3 times, and got my first PC at the age of 21. But then...
ENTER THE EMULATION!!
Well, that explains the craze about it, I was just playing games 'again'...a few situations aside like systems I never owned or cared to buy games for.

Well credit for breaking the law like a bazillion times at any rate...really, i'm serious, nice (y)
You're arguing with the facts. Boobs aren't real though🤭
The fact is (especially if thats the case), shes more animation than real, and likely it was done in a legit studio to add the chickens and everything to that extreme...neither are the eyes, or multiple other parts. (no, I'm not hitting suzy's instagram to argue lmao)
