Me I had windows installation it came with the notebook, I just debloated manually all the crap software, then when I had that disk problem, I installed a clean Win10 with a the disk image downloaded from Microsoft website. I had to download all notebook drivers but at the end I have a very clean Os.
I did the exact opposite and added all my basic component software INTO my Windows installation...but it backfired when I realized I still had to update them all every single time

Can I get a dunce hat for this moment in time please?

It still gave me basic control and all the warnings an stuff, but I wasn't doing it every version of any of the 4-5 default software programs got an upgrade.

Now I just keep an offline installer of the most recent (and a few back in case) for Win 7/10 and Linux in some cases.

But, I never bothered stripping one down for some reason, probably should have....I was always more annoyed by installations. Vista with all the service packs and upgrading IE enough to even download Chrome actually pissed me off so bad i made an auto installer with both service packs, all the msi packages for IE and even my programming languages--just made it customizable through an old INI file to drag and drop over, run the program and walk away for like an hour :ROFLMAO:

These days I can modify Win RE by hand to add my own programs and launch them without even starting a Windows Installation...which is a real bastard when I added my disk clones drive locking code into the mix and made it so Windows couldn't even install because it couldn't locate a hard drive 😈

Thats one way to fuck up somebody's day royally, even more of a bastard move to load the Istall and run a program in the background to prevent the options from working while destroying all the data except the recovery part :ROFLMAO:

😳

I mean...who would do that to someone...umm, as I was saying. Its pretty easy to use imaging tools to modify the installation...keeping tabs on all the little hidey holes where files go that windows adds is more of the annoyance
I've still installed Samsung Magician but I disabled the autostart. When I need it I open it manually.
Your kind of forced too for the over provisioning, even leaving the space plain empty doesn't have the same affect from what they say...I didn't get to the point of digging into the differences between SSD and HDD for my clone program before all hell broke loose in my life--quite a few times now haha.

On a side note, Magician is pretty low profile--unless your online, that thing is a data miner from hell, once you connect it basically never stops using your internet to some extent, iCUE is the only program I've seen thats actually worse--it does it ALL the time, it keeps adding my GPU and CPU to its monitoring without permission or even telling me...I don't need programs fighting over control of shit they don't control 😂
Cortana instead is a must to silence
Cool :D I didn't know about the blue screen.
The blue queen you say?
Cortana_Blue_Queen.jpegred_quee.gif
I use more the search bar to find fast the program I want to start, if I don't have the shortcut ready.
Blah, fuck that shit...Windows store shit list. My Windows 10 isn't nearly as clean, I keep a shortcut to the classic control panel and services console in my quick launch along with an auto-admin dos prompt and my fucking media player I can't stand the design so much...I honestly almost grabbed the classic shell program to make a whip version of it just for the simple fact I wanted a normal design on the start menu alone

DbLH3LiX asked a suggestion for easier fps games and I gave him a suggestion, he didn't ask for modern or old games
you are confusing "old" and "easy". the main idea of old shooters is a labyrinth-like structure of levels, which is by no means easy. it lies so much on the surface that you want to ask the question - when was the last time you played shooters? both new and old?

Nice, which cosplay has she made?
She's done Harley Quinn, Ash Ketchum from Pokemon, some random stuff like a universe...she has more cosplay attire than I can even keep track of to be honest...those are a few out of the ones I can recall off the top of my head.

She only does it for fun though, although shes a hardcore anime weeb...multiple trips to japan, etc etc.
I'm not fan of candy eye stuff and docks, I prefer the classic way.
Unless I was making it myself, debating it, or it was forced upon me by an OS or program I truly needed...I've never had one on my screen, I didn't even like them floating around in Visual Studio or Gimp where they were actually useful since you generally needed as much screen space as you could get.

Personally, I'll hop into 'DOS' more often than not to do almost everything unless by some unholy miracle the GUI based version can actually do it better or has something like Microsofts Defrag that shows you the status of operations you sometimes can't without a ton of hassle, such as shrinking a disk in Windows 7.

I keep a REG file to run cmd.exe as an Admin and add an "Open in DOS" menu to the right click menu on folders and drives system wide, well aware of the risk if someone were to gain access...to me that risk is worth it because I use it so damn often.

lol I was searching which character I though she was from the Witcher 3, I don't know the game but when I saw the cosplay I though she was her
I'm curious, were you talking about the chicken runner or another girl? :ROFLMAO:

I'm wondering if I got mixed up, we both did, or dante went lunatic for a day
Ransomware is very bad, I heard about them.
Virus + Malware + Ransom = Profit lol.

Worst thing out there IMO right now...and they've been getting ALOT more creative and nasty since the early days, those were practically a joke, basically locking your computer and trying to phish you information out of you if you were foolish....now its truly being held ransom, your data for your cash, and they've taken some deep algorithms into the playing field like encryption with no key to reverse on the host PC.

Evil shit.
Now I had a flashback: playing Doom on Sega 32x with the controller, back in time it was so cool to play it on a console but very strange to play with sega controller because Fps were meant to play with kb+mouse on pc. Not very hand to play with a sega mega drive controller.
I still have it the real thing
Nice dude (y)

This is one game I would fully agree with you about being meant for KB an Mouse, even though I likely wouldn't play it that way now because of pain...its probably the reason why I don't even though I own it
I was apologizing to everyone else here :ROFLMAO:

I knew you didn't care ;)
lol reddit is the land of the troll....so true!
Amen brother
SMK and CTR are great games but I prefer a bit more SMK.... btw each time I read CTR my mind reads CRT📺
Agreed on both the love for the games and the CRT :ROFLMAO:

Dante is the first person I've actually seen shorten those titles...which says alot about the places hes been 'researching', but the wise man once said...YOLO...or not

Can any of you recommend easier n00b fps games? (remember, contoller only!)
I'm surprised nobody recommended the Bioshock series. Technically they're "immersive sims" because they allow you to approach situations using a combination of stealth, hacking, shooting and skill upgrades, but you can easily go guns blazing if that's what you're after.

They're fairly easy, slower paced games and should work well with a controller. Bioshock 1 is my favorite, but Bioshock Infinite might fit the bill better since its more linear and is more shooting-focused.

It's even ported to iPhone, but quite hard to get it running because it requires specific iPhone model with specific iOS versions.

Not to mention this masterpiece.

Yes, they work with a gamepad. But there are more questions not about this, but about the state of the so-called remasters, because they work just terribly, crash constantly, and the first game likes to do this when saving the game, which can kill all progress. For some, they work without problems, but that is rather an exception (old versions come in a set, at least in Steam). I personally would recommend trying Infinite first. There are no questions about the technical condition there, and the plot is very interesting, and the game is not tied to the previous ones.

Also, speaking of shooters on the gamepad, we should not forget about the presence of such a thing as Halo: The Master Chief Collection. No one has done more to popularize the genre and the playing it on the gamepad than Master Chief. And for the ridiculous amount of money Steam ask for in the store during sales, getting six full-fledged games in the collection is just a gift. There will, of course, be questions when playing the first game, which received a full-fledged visual update, but remained essentially a very old game, in which in the last third they frankly dragged out the time by copying the same corridor (the legendary level in the Library is still a dream of many players in nightmares), but with each new game the series gets better and better, and you can try it yourself. And if there is someone with whom you can go through it in a cooperative - it will be twice as good. Is it necessary to start with it - no. Is it necessary to start a cooperative with it - yes, yes and yes.

Thanks(y), but it turns out it was never "sold out". it's a message shown to those in giveaway restricted regions:(🤬 ,
and on top of that Opera browser which I normally use to get from Fanatical is crashing again and again. Uninstalled and Reinstalled and still crashing, I gotta somehow fix Opera before I get this.:cautious:
oh didnt' know this, they should change the message into something more clear liek your country is not eligible for the giveaway. I hate those region restrictions :(
We don't get Boosters anymore, they are being phased out by AWA :( , so use the ones you do have wisely.(y)
this is a bad news for me because I used last booster. I hope they will give the again as soon as possible.
I did the exact opposite and added all my basic component software INTO my Windows installation...but it backfired when I realized I still had to update them all every single time
This made me remind when I used to make Nlite custom win iso cooked with all drivers inside. Today Win10 recognize many drivers automatically but sometimes it mess them too changing your driver with the driver Win wants

I prefer always doing a clean installation then install again main programs I need, I like having clean software installations, I just load browsers settings saves.
I had Win Vista for long time, after Xp. Vista was very hated, but after service packs it was a mature Os and always liked it, of course I stripped down of all eye candy stuff disabled a lot of services I didn't need. Vista came with the UAC feature, some people were annoyed by it and disabled it, but I always kept because was a nice security protection.

For the data mining reason I prefered to disable it, I didn't know you need to keep it open for over provisioning, but atm I haven't activated it yet the over provisioning, my ssd is pretty empty, I've just the system on it and few programs.
ahha Cortana, I'm wondering in the near future we will have a more intelligent Cortana with gpt chat integrated, M$ Bing has already included a gpt chat bot in his search engine. I hope the blue assistent won't turn red or she will destroy our computers.
Blah, fuck that shit...Windows store shit list. Win10 media player and photo viewer are so bad, I prefer the classic too. I don't listen music with mp3 anymore on my computer I prefer online, but when I used to listen I used winamp and foobar2000. Foobar was the fastest one to open mp3 I used it with older computers. I'm glad it still exist now foobar2000: Screenshots

Easy or not is subjective concept, a person can be fine playing in labyrinth structured games but not being comfortable with some modern shooters that are very fast to play, while another person can get lost in labyrinth but is very good with very fast modern games. Old Doom games aren't so hard you can set the difficulty from minimum and increase it when you can feel it.
It depends then if he wants to be better to play competitive online fps games we have nowdays, he has to practice with newer ones of course. So It would be better to try different Fps type and choose which one is better for him.
As I said this are only suggestions he will find what he likes more.
When did I play the last time? It should be some weeks ago :)

Cool, some persons are very dedicated on this passion, I know people who prepare their cosplay dress for a year to go to comic festival contents. They are very dedicated crafting their dress completely by theirselves.
She only does it for fun though, although shes a hardcore anime weeb...multiple trips to japan, etc etc.

Unfortunally, as I said you once, M$ wants we get numb and completely forget about Dos, in Win10 we use it a lot less then before, I mean medium window user.
I'm curious, were you talking about the chicken runner or another girl? :ROFLMAO:

I'm wondering if I got mixed up, we both did, or dante went lunatic for a day
ahha I was talking about the cosplay girl Dante posted, the readhead. :ROFLMAO:

I wonder if a low system format will work to clean it. Always better don't leave personal things on main pc, always backup on external device.

CTR has the shorten title on the cover :ROFLMAO: But true on reddit they shorten a lot videogames titles, sometimes I don't know which game they are refering to since same shorten title can be refered to more games.

I'm surprised nobody recommended the Bioshock series. Technically they're "immersive sims" because they allow you to approach situations using a combination of stealth, hacking, shooting and skill upgrades, but you can easily go guns blazing if that's what you're after.

Loved Bioshock 1, played it on the ps3 back in time, I liked the concept of the underwater city and the vintage enviroments.

Lol, I never played it, on Lootboy they give free codes some years ago. On which console are you playing it?

I found this free game searching on steam, unfortunally it is not in english, it has only japanese, korean and chinese languages.
The game looks well made and it is fully voiced.

Old Doom games aren't so hard you can set the difficulty from minimum and increase it when you can feel it.
Do you really trying to say that reducing the difficulty in Doom will not make the levels linear? Because I doubt it very much, but I don't understand why you twist everything every time and start answering questions that were not asked? All I see is the story of how the trees were once bigger. Nostalgia is a normal thing, and many comments here indicate exactly that - everyone remembers something warm from the past, how someone used to play a game and it left him with pleasant memories. But having memories and being stuck in the past are different things

Just noticed today. Congratulations!
View attachment 11204

Thanks! I was very surprised to see someone I knew in that list of winners :D

Congrats for the win to SkeetSurfer, what does he win?

Pretty nice, a €25 Credit of "Choice". Theoretically, I get to pick from here, but I found that not everything is kept in stock. I try every now and then to redeem for a Steam credit, but I may eventually have to choose something else.
