I'd like to thank
RETRO for the raffle and the
Patch Quest key. I'll try to start playing this game asap (probably next week, when i have more time) and write a short review here about my experience with it!
Well...I have to admit it took me waaaay more time than a week to actually play it

But here we are!
First of all if you've ever heard anything about Patch Quest having smth in common with Pokemon, know that those words had been used by a person who knows very little about Pokemon and/or barely played Patch Quest. People should really learn that
not every game in which you can capture "an animal" and use it to fight
is related to Pokemon!
Now to
Patch Quest itself. It's a lite rogue-like bullet-hell game in which you act as a new member of an Explorer's Guild and try to gather old treasures, find out why the island is now patched, build yourown base with useful (or not) objects and have a little zoo of domesticated monsters. Sounds cozy...But then you start your quest and suddenly realise that not every thing on the island is welcoming you! Nice green fields are filled with not so friendly slugs, turtles, moths etc. whose sole meaning of life is getting rid of you. Some plants emit poisonous or sleeping gases. Mud makes you slower. Water is...well, it's not a solid ground. It could end really fast but...
YOU. HAVE. THE. BLASTER. And a lasso. But who cares about lasso when you have a WEAPON?! The blaster is used in most common way everyone uses blasters for: killing things that want to harm you. Or that you don't like. Or that were staying in your way. Tired of boring standard "pop-pop-pop"? Gather some fruits and transform your blaster into shotgun, machine gun, rocket launcher or learn the skill to mix all fruits into a super-powerful something! With that knowledge you can definitely cut your way through a tile or two, gather some pins for your garden and start it over with more knowledge, shortcuts and skills!
Remember when i mocked a
lasso several words back? Just kidding! Sometimes it's worth much more than a pleb gun. With the lasso you can turn a dangerous fauna representative into your mount! Catch it, circle over and ride it with all the glory it can give! The more you use your mount the better it becomes: each of them have two passive and four active abilities that can be used through battles. For example, that poisonous gas i mentioned? Ride a Tattoad and be immune to any poison! Active abilities are divided into defensive (one), offensive (two) and super (one). Every ability but super are on cooldown, Super is one per battle. Got a bond with your monster - send it to your base to become a pet. There you can fulfill its needs and with this make it stronger. If you need it as a back-up in tough battle against boss (did i mentioned bosses? my bad), whistle and it'll be there to help! Though it might get tired and walk back to base...But you can call another right after! All in all you're allowed to have 5 pets.
Defeated again? Don't worry. Fly back to your base, pin new plants and tiles, rest a bit and - here's Johnny!
So,
RETRO, thx once again for the key, i'll definitely spend more hours in this game!
