Thanks honey bunny I really want that bundle.
How’re u my beautiful princess? Long time you stayed hidden but we always wait for you to come back. Well.... welcome back bb.
I played Chinatris and unlocked 18 Achievements in 35 Minutes. The game is challenging, but my (albeit limited) knowledge of Kanjis helped me to get to level 4, that's the required level to unlock "Unlimited Mode", I haven't tried that out yet. I feel like if I didn't know anything from Japanese (Kanjis) I would have only reached level 2 with 6 achievements.
The tiles stack on top of each other in a way that makes sense to the shapes inside of the Kanjis.
For example: these are the Kanjis for 1, 2, and 3 一 二 三 obviously stacking 3 tiles (each with a single straight line 一 ) will turn 3 tiles into 1 tile with this Kanji 三
Adding trees together ( Kanji meaning tree 木 )
木 + 木 = 林 (2 Trees = a grove)
木 + 林 = 森 (3 Trees = a forest)
Now it gets weird
人 + 一 + 丶 = 犬
Meaning: 人 Person + 一 One + 丶A dot = 犬 Dog (it takes 3 tiles to draw the dog Kanji)
A tile can join the one below it, to the left OR right of it, OR sometimes it will join 2 tiles at the same time (below + left, OR below + right)
I haven't seen a tile join 3 at the same time (below + left + right), but I suppose it's possible, it would be rare to line up 3 just perfectly though.
Basically, if both tiles can absorb a radical such as one ( 一 meaning 1) it will get added into both.
As soon as you add tiles together, it gives you the Chinese pronunciation on the right (in writing only, no audio pronunciation)
it also gives you the definition on the right side, below the pronunciation.
Photo #1-4 The pretzel-shaped hearts on the bottom + left/right are like obstacles, you can't place blocks there,
Photo #3 Read the last definition.
Photo #5 What it looks like when you win
Photo #6 What it looks like when you lose
Photo #7 What it looks like when you enter Level 3 (I actually got to Level 4, but didn't screenshot it, the message looks the same, but with a 4)
Photo #8 I'm pretty sure this is a Level 4 screenshot, the pretzel-shaped hearts on the bottom + left/right have changed to just one bottom row. This allows me to place more blocks on the game board before I fail the level, it's just like Tetris, if you clog the board with pieces, you lose.
Overall I like this game, it forces you to think fast about which Radicals join together to form a Kanji, but it doesn't stop or pause to allow you enough time to read the meanings on the right side of the screen, so as a learning tool you would want to screenshot any new Kanji you learned. That's another thing, I call them Kanji because I know them from Japanese, Hanzi is what they're called in Chinese, so don't let me confuse you.
The game forces you to think fast about which ones fit together, the problem is if you're learning something new about which shapes fit together, you barely have time to remember it, it's like Tetris, think fast or die. You would need to play it a lot to remember the more difficult ones. I think there's 14 levels, and they each get more difficult.
Here's an example of something best learned elsewhere, but the game assumes you already know it, or you're supposed to learn it quickly under pressure:
This is water 水 but if you squeeze it into a Kanji it changes shape and looks like this on the left side of a Kanji 氵
I'll enlarge that for you 水 becomes 氵and they both mean "water" luckily I already know about this, but sometimes they change shape, in fact many of them change shape like "heart" and "fire" also change shape, etc.
Anyways, I like the game, it might sound like I'm complaining, but they're minor complaints, more like constructive criticism and the game still scratches a certain itch for me, I hope they'll add Japanese DLC some day. I had fun, thanks again oldpete.
How predictable? Of course it’s going to be our frog loving frenchy or that car loving wannabe programmer troll.
What about me and my friends david and ferid? Did you skip us all on purpose or was it just an honest mistake?
I'll tell you a secret: You still failed to exclude all our accounts. Good luck with guessing next time bb.
