Today, RosKomNadzor (the state monitoring organization that oversees offenses on the Internet) blocked Discord, and as you know, Discord is my life. This was the last straw and I had to figure out how to create a tunnel in Windows, which, without the help of any VPN, opens access to absolutely everything that was blocked earlier: Instagram, YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, various sites, etc. I'm a white man now.

Discord isn't banning them. The countries are banning Discord.
I realize that...but why?
discord and telegram is a part of dirtyweb

there is no control in them and any info there is not safe

but mostly we use it for getting a free game or contacting customer service of gaming related sites

and for some they gain money out of discord

banning is not a solution of anything.

The government has no control over what is said on these platforms, and they don't like that. They will say things like crime, CP, terrorism, but the main thing they don't like is political opposition.
Nobody has any control about what is said anywhere on the fucking internet, I can see that discord is a particular type of beast since there is literally no way to govern it.

But if those reasons were valid then gala is actually just as bad :ROFLMAO:
France arrested the Telegram guy.
Pretend like your talking to someone uneducated n the stupidity of the world, matter of fact don't pretend.

and don't bother refreshing my memory, someone posted it here but eh.

Yes, but it's nowhere near as popular, so can be safely ignored. It also happened in Brazil. A Brazilian judge wanted Musk to ban some accounts that were critical of the government. Musk said no. Brazil seized assets, and Musk caved in and banned the accounts.

In the case of Telegram, France wanted access to encrypted communications. They're not alone in that. Many governments don't like encryption without a backdoor, which makes encryption pointless.

Ausf knows what's up. It's the same reason why the US is trying to ban Tiktok. They want to funnel online communication into a few outlets that they can monitor and control so they could easily ban (or even criminally prosecute) anyone who expresses the "wrong" point of view.

🤣 So true! Although I did have an update once that ruined my bootloader, which was a bit of a hassle to fix. Linux is great and all but oftentimes it's a bit more work to upkeep, that and compatibly and all.

Yea. I got some experience with Linux but I no longer have time to tinker with it. I also need a windows machine to run CAD ( Autodesk Civil 3D) at work and often at home because I suck at my job and I never finish things on time.

Pretty apt description...I know enough basic linux and basic everything to get around using it if I need to...but honestly its too much effort for everyday use even for me as a programmer who lives for that kind of shit, I just want my OS to do it's job or i'd end up coding it myself from the kernal on up
