yeah mistakes are so important

i follow a yt tut on Unreal5, the guy is bad but he shows some basics (have to rewatch his vids and zoom in to be sure i'm not missing something he didn't mentionned and then i try to correct my bp architecture)
I didnt know what bp was
i can surely find a better yt channel, but i like to finish what i've started and believe me or not some buyers of his special "monetize your game" paid course has launched games i have already seen on IG of steamgifts and devs makes some cash with
The entire course is a link to steam gifts and an introduction to the owner of IG
Honestly, you can sign up to put a free game on IG without human interaction if i'm not mistaken, unless theres an issue...steamgifts just requires its actually on steam (I would think lol), and in unreal, unity, or ren'py most of that functionality is extremely simplified.
And if you think the people with free games on here are making money...really just ask yourself how many of the freebies you ever really played and more importantly paid for somewhere else...like ever.
IG is a good site to get your project out there, no doubt...but the truth is, its up to the creator to make sure the project doesn't suck and any game thats made it from the ranks of IG to being well known? probably would have made it without ever using IG.
The problem with IG now IMO, is that for years like everything else now there has been no moderation on that aspect either unless it was a serious problem...so they accepted so much trash into the game list that now i'm not sure if being lumped in with the masses of them is even a good idea, particularly fuda games, until AFTER your game succeeded.
I live here and I didnt even consider a release on gala

and they accept 18+ games I think.
I'd make it available as a Steam version later out of love for gala, probably as some sort of freebie...but even after thinking about it I wouldn't want this to be the starting point for it
IG is the best place for a game creator who doesn't care about making money and just does it for the joy...or any projects that just didnt make it for whatever reason--and honestly we need a place like that. Some gems would have been lost forever due to poor marketing skills and/or lack of effort and every person who makes a game wants to share it and people to play it
Its a catch 22 really. If I ever lucked out as a dev I'd drop my next game as an IG exclusive just to drag people here
And then theres always this...
