No point harvesting them unless you're ready to use them, they don't keep as well otherwise. We're talking about organ harvesting here, not some kind of hippy free range egg green/ethics washing thing.
I assume at some point we'll be able to grow new organs without the need to keep them in the container they would usually come in. This would solve the squeamish ethics issue.
I'm probably one of the coldest people you'll ever meet (or i'm prone to be is more accurate in truth), I could walk by and ice somebody that deserved it without blinking and go have a nice dinner then sleep like a baby if they really deserved it.
It's not a squeamish issue to me...just long drawn out torture (aside from the case where its personal) to any person for the sake of some greater 'good' is just as evil as the crime that sent them there.
To me its all about a balanced equation, if your going to treat the monster no better than they treated someone else then your no better in the first place and you have no right to judge them or keep them prisoner unless you throw yourself in there next to them.
One evil doesn't justify another evil without making you evil...what I said above is truth, I could kill someone without blinking if I believed they deserved it--but I would also accept the fact that I may go to prison or get shot down myself for becoming that monster the second I did it, and although I may defend myself regardless I wouldn't begrudge the person that made me pay for what I did.
The second I make that choice, as with any choicr I make, I prepare for the possible consequences and accept the reality of what I did and what it makes me in a so called civilized world...so when it comes full circle I won't be surprised or even pissed off about it.
Mind you it wouldn't stop me from doing it, but i'm well aware that every action has consequences...and I accept them before I act every time. They belong in the cell right next to them and their names should be in the organ raffle right along with it. One deed doesn't make another one right, but sometime you gotta say fuck it
