Speaking of, an observation:

This GA has 372 928 entries: Bus Simulator 18
Buying a ticket takes a bit under 2 seconds.
That's 8 days.
8. Full. Days.
That's 5 work weeks - over a month of full time job wasted collectively on a $7 game.
How fucking stupid is that?

And that doesn't even account for the extra overhead - time wasted on account of the site running like a shit on a treadmill.
I'm not sure if this is a personal attack on me, or not. However, had I won the game I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have considered my time wasted. In fact I still don't. Pretty sure I was an exception rather than the norm with my entries too. I assume most people only click a giveaway one time. As for the Bus Sim game: sometimes people have time to spare but don't have that $7 spare/available to spend online. ❤️

AWA Bonus Quest (10 ARP)- Read the news
Read 1 or 2 news: https://na.alienwarearena.com/ucf/News
Perhaps it's because the site seems to be loading/running really slow since the update or if it's because of timezones (meaning it's expired by the time I did it) but I read two news articles and commented but didnt get the bonus 10 .. yet...? 🤔 I did get 5 for adding a badge (I haven't figured out how to remove one to change it). I'll be on Tier 1 for a long time to come.

I'm not sure if this is a personal attack on me, or not.

No, it's not an attack on you, or anyone else.

had I won the game I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have considered my time wasted.

No one would, same way they wouldn't consider money spent on a lottery ticket to be a waste - had they won the jackpot.
But that's just one of the possible outcomes of a stochastic contract.
To evaluate the probable gain from that contract, one needs to quantify and factor in the probability.

I assume most people only click a giveaway one time.

Possibly; it certainly differs from person to person and GA to GA.
But again, that kind of assumption does not - in any way - help one estimate the probable return on their investment.

Even for someone who buys only one ticket in that Bus Sim GA, and values their time at just $0.05 / hour, that probable ROI is negative (loss).

For the Flight Sim GA, one would need to value their time at less than $0.17 / hour for the probable ROI to become positive - if they've purchased only one ticket. At 1000 purchased tickets that probable ROI is still negative (the more tickets one buys in an extra-odds GA, the lower the probable ROI becomes).

Still, it was not my intention to demonstrate the low/negative value of those activities on a personal level. These might seem insignificant when considered on incidental basis, especially when combined with wishful thinking.

To assess the real damage of lottery schemes one needs to look from a broader perspective and run the numbers - that's what I wanted to demonstrate. No one should feel bad for falling/participating; reconciling our wants with those numbers is not intuitive - at all.

The time we have is limited. It doesn't need to be evaluated on a monetary basis; in this case money is just a precise, common denominator anyone can use for their personal conversions.

In the end, it's an opportunity for self-reflection.
For everyone, including myself.

I believe TrueSeeker doesn't have any intention of an attack probably just sometimes words may come across as such. I am terribly guilty of such actions myself as well many at times. 😅

I believe he might be speaking to the case where there are a large number of entries for a game (let alone any game). Over 300k entries in this smaller community of game giveaway sure is quite a stark difference to how some other games might be received. Say Retro Classix: Bad Dudes and Retro Classix: Joe & Mac - Caveman Ninja which is also 1is for entry and ending in 1 day and 2 days respectively isn't actually seeing their tickets purchase over 20k. Of course Bus Sim 18 could actually be a pretty popular game like is in the case for Sword Art Online: Lost Song which still has 26 days left but have already over 144k tickets purchased.

Ultimately, we all have 240is to spend daily. Indiegala isn't gonna let us keep the overflows or turn them into credits. So rather spend it than to let it overflow. ;)

Click on the same equipped badge will remove it back to your inventory. Don't worry Tier 2 is gated at 2.5k ARP I am sure you'll get there soon enough :)(y)

i'm back after near 48h without internet at home, and my generous mobile data plan was useless cause the bandwidth was to weak to do anything relevant
it's freaky to consider that an impressive part of my own life is depending on internet services
