It's Thursday, so time to share my thanks! Shout out to
@defaults-channel for gifting me Defunct

You rock.
Also, I thought it would be fun to highlight some games I finished over the last month since this is Gamers Lair after all!
I don't have much time after work, so I try to play and finish short games. All of the below clock in at 1-5 hours.
I also don't have much spare money as I take care of my elderly parents. All of but one of the below were free! I'm a cheap date

You'll notice a lot of the games are also very artistically vibrant or unique in scenario. Games are an art so I appreciate those that break the mold or take chances.
In July I finished:
Finding Teddy - Gifted to me by
@hanzo.1.2
A Pixel art point-&-click about a girl going to a mysterious closet land to retrieve her teddy from a monster. Cute game, but the music component was hard. You're supposed to guess music notes corresponding to letters of the alphabet just based on their sound. I'm not musically inclined so a lot of them sounded similar to me, making progression impossible without referencing a guide.
Capsule - A game gifted to me by
@bigdealbg and highly recommended to me by
@tepmpora that looks and controls just like an old-school arcade cabinet game. Described to me as something you'd see the crew from Alien play, which is the perfect description. Super retro, super unique, and a ton of fun. My only gripe is that the text on screen can blur towards the edges due to the retro styling.
Figment: Free on IGClient. An adventure game about courage (literally) and the resiliency it grows through trials. The writing is strong, and the boss fights are to songs they sing. The voice acting can be wicked funny or kinda cringe at times lol but I love the effort and care put into the game.
Cayne - An isometric point-&-click horror game that is free on Steam and...well... unsettling. I don't want to spoil it, so let's just say it follows a woman forced into carrying a child in a less than ideal setting. Kinda unintended ironic timing from me by playing it right after the US Supreme Court's Roe V Wade decision. It's gory. It's creepy. It's... unique.
Symphonia - A moving orchestral platformer that is free on GOG. It's a very short game but stunning, following a bird conductor breathing fresh life into a symphony hall through music.
Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP - A pixel art mobile game ported to the Epic Store. Honestly a pretty "meh" game. The music sets the mood well but the writing was kind of too hipster for me at times. Super simple controls, pretty environments, and not a very deep game... so, what you'd expect from an early era mobile game lol.
Out of Line - A post-robo apocalyptic puzzle platformer that was included in Prime Gaming. The controls are a little clunky at times but the game has a beautiful painted aesthetic, and the puzzles work well for the pacing. It's not a long game, and the ending felt tacked on, leaving a bit to be desired.
looK INside - Chapter 1 - An easy hidden object game from Prime Gaming that guides the player through a family tree. Each room has a distinct feel and experience that ranged from heartwarming to heart tugging. The social media star level was the most memorable.
Copperbell - Free on IGClient. A folksy sidescroller following a copper bell sent on a quest to beat a forest demon. The artwork reminds me of craft paper, which is so charming. Hitboxes are wonky at times and the final boss is way more challenging than the rest of the game, which was super easy.
Black Widow Recharged - A revamp of a classic arcade shooter that was free on Epic. The endless mode is fun, but the challenge series quickly became repetitive. It's an old arcade game so there's not much depth to it. Good for mindless entertainment in short bursts.
