How to Fix a DPC Watchdog Violation in Windows 10

Dealing with blue screen errors is never fun, but it’s worse when you have no idea what’s caused it in the first place. One particular head-scratcher is the DPC Watchdog Violation, which can be caused for a number of reasons.

Too long of a list to write out basic concept IMO is you got a bad driver, a virri, or a hardware issue.

Beyond that Visual C++ redistributable packages (you know the 18 versions from different games) are another possible security concern as well as wasted space AND could be causing conflicts...but that page covers most general scenarios.

This is an option for everyone having issues with windows Update and general problems, I've used it myself without issue, but I want to give fair warning that its a Microsoft tool for OS Installation and/or Update Installation in DOS (the command prompt) and could potentially be risky, i recommend backing up important files first to be safe...or at the least making a full restore point.

You would need to go to your start menu (or search for cmd.exe) under System -> (Accessories or Administrator tools), I forget sice I pinned mine, right click the Command prompt and go to More⇒Run as Administrator

When the text prompt opens, type this

DISM/Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

The chances of things going wrong are low, but the chance DOES exists. Use at your own risk.

EDIT:

Note the Online command in it...you obviously need an internet connection :LOL:

I was gifted this by my friend tryyear who went above and beyond to get me this game, I missed your edit at first...definitely want to check out the DLC sale since its a fun game and I didn't have to pay for that on Epic or Steam.

They also have a limited time online event going on when you launch the game, if thats not the update you were talking about.

Anyone here currently doing game preservation project(s), I'm trying to preserve games on iPhone, Xperia Play and N-Gage 2.0 The biggest obstacle right now is the stupid DRM(s). Unlike ones on PC games there aren't too many people who are keen on removing them on mobile. That's why many games are probably lost in time. E.g. Devil May Cry 4 on Xperia Play, I simply cannot find anyone who can bypass the dead DRM in order to play that game nor can I find the installation files.

Wow...been awhile since I heard of NOT being able to get Windows to update, its usually the reverse :LOL:

Did you shut off the "Download from other PCs" option like I suggested? If not, thats likely why and you can ignore the rest of this.

If you did, I'd suggest running a few scanners, as well as "SFC /ScanNow" (command prompt) and even the Dism command I posted just a little while back in this forum if thats the case.

Something doesn't seem right in your system files for that to have happened if you shut off the option I mentioned... unless you set ALL the bandwidth to minimum, it does need some to actually download the updates heh.

If you tried it all and still nothing, i'm sorry it wasn't any help. I was trying basic solutions first so I didn't chance you losing any data.

Sorry, that ones not my forte...I used to tinker with GBA/NDS for a bit. I have never liked mobile based programming at all, although I know the basics. I have zero knowledge of the DRM even used.

I did find this while seeing if anyone had created a tool for it though (off your topic I'm afraid, sorry)

That tool is for SecuROM, which was a pain in the ass back in the days. Only 5 activations maximum then you'd have to contact customer support to revoke old licenses. I think EA completely removed it from their games now. 😄😆

Still it's nothing compared to the POS StarForce. 😤😡🤬

I remember the times when almost every new game in our country was released with starforce and nothing happened. Horror stories are horror stories, but personal experience is always better. Although SF was wild and terrible, can't argue with that. But the remaining few CDs lie somewhere so deep that it is impossible to get them, and to be honest, there is no device to insert them, so I did not check on new operating systems.

For anyone who failed to grab the base game for free from the EGS, I'll point out:
1. Steam provides Linux & Mac builds, while Epic does not.
2. The soundtrack is available for purchase on Steam (where it requires owning the base game), but not on Epic.
3. The Steam version is reportedly playable without the Steam client, whereas the Epic version is not playable without the Epic Games Launcher.

Which is to say, it's better to buy the game from Steam than from the Epic Games Store.

Also, Horizon Chase Turbo was included in the December 2019 Humble Choice bundle, which I mention just in case any then-subscribers forgot they already have a Steam key for the game.

Like, I've got my 4th level almost a half a year back, and no, I'm not buying stuff/fooling people with broken keys.
But yeah, I was here exclusively for Giveaways (not gameplay giveaways though) and freebies, so it's not so strange to see that kind of rise in level.
But it's amazing for me that a two well-known members has the level there that low. o0
