No, steamtrades is an AWFUL idea.. An unmoderated wild west that every idiot tries to exploit. It is NOT recommended..

I've never encountered any significant problems with it (aside from its inefficiency, relative to Barter). I knowingly accepted one lopsided trade early on, just to help establish some +rep, but that's all. Just ignore the users with -reps (but be nice and check whether they were really at fault, if it's just one or two), and ignore all the countless lowball offers, and don't take a chance on trading with someone with near-zero rep until you've got a firmly established reputation yourself. Then, you should be fine.

I prefer a more.. classical approach on horror

If by "classical", you mean simple jumpscares, then I can't help you there, I don't find those especially interesting.
But if you want "psychological thriller", "mind screw", or "creeping dread", then I would strongly recommend these:

Audition (Probably not the best choice for a date movie...)
Uzumaki (Psychopaths, aliens, and monsters can be killed. Ghosts & demons can be exorcised. But what do you do, when your adversary is a basic concept?)
Suicide Club (Was good, but I much prefer: )
Noriko's Dinner Table (Reasonably stand-alone sequel to Suicide Club.)
Yamishibai (Nothing too mind-blowing, but it's nice having such bite-sized snippets of creepy horror. No need to allocate a large block of time.)

Those are also not english supported which makes it x2 harder for me.. Trial and error
