Even if you just take in the context of gamers: Steam App, Steam Chat, UbiConnect, Xbox App, Battle.net App, Authenticator for 2FA protection, Twitch, LootBoy - these are the applications that help me a lot in everyday life as a gamer. You lose a lot without a smartphone. You can buy a cheap one for a penny and use it at least as an assistant in some cases.
