I played Final Fantasy on NES, it was grinding lol.

don't get me wrong, there was A LOT GRINDING in the GBA remakes too, but...at least those remakes looked/sounded thousand times better.
I dropped out of the original NES Final Fantasy after like a 10 minutes of gameplay 'cause it looks like sh1t(( no surprise though, 'cause it's one of the first examples of jrpg genre, they should've start somewhere.
BTW, I have the same "problem" with Dragon Quest - I'm playing only the updated versions for GB and SNES, 'cause it looks TOO simple on NES.
