Last Saturday i entered
RETRO's giveaway and was lucky enough to be the first who asked for "
Raji: An Ancient Epic". After redeeming the key i promised to play this game asap so...here it's. Briefly review.
We play as the indian girl named Raji who is struggling to find her little brother who is – along with other children – captured by demons. Our adventure is annotated by two indian gods: Durga and Vishnu. I was listening to them in hindi with subs so can't really say much about how good English translation is. The gameplay reminded me a mix of Prince of Persia (old one) and modern platformers (Figment, Bastion): mostly you run through the area, encounter some foes, kill them, solve few easy puzzles. To kill foes you use several weapons (accuired one by one when you progress through the main story) which have 2-3 attack modes (each mode has a powerful attack) and can be enchanted (lightning, fire, ice) by orbs that can be found in secret locations.
I liked the story but ending...
wasn't really an end. Maybe there're aiming for a sequel?. Those cultural references to the indian mythology were very nice. And cut-scenes were made in unique style! At least i haven't encountered anything like that. The only thing i was missing was music: firstly, it's not that well made (for example we can hear a fountain only if we come really close to it) and secondly there's not that much of it. Still i can reccomend this game for everyone who likes story-based adventures.
To conclude the review here're some screenshots:
Big thanks to
