I do love the Internet here when I can use it...

The Run was on Origin (and the downloader sucks arse)...but heres some Irony, it won't "Run" when I load it through the client, freezes connecting to the EA servers, anybody have this issue? - Solved (I think)

Memory can move the world...when i originally put 32GB in people asked me why I wanted to add 64GB (which I have now if I chose) even at toms hardware in the PC Builder boards.

I said - "because it can hold it?" :LOL:

Why wouldn't you want it? Memory is almost as vital to gaming as the GPU itself, as well as all other tasks a CPU performs...even more important is the fact I have NEVER in 25+ yrs of repairing PCs seen a dead memory stick, all the way back to before they were 240 pin in a desktop, legit.

Never skimp on memory...best investment you can make.

I was able to run PS4 games off my I-7 6700K 1GB iGPU because of that memory before I bought a GPU, I still haven't found a reason to add my other 32GB since it would just cause heat and instability in all reality, but I refused to buy all the parts (at once) unless they price matched me on 16GB DDR4 DIMM when the ones I planned to buy were out of stock.

They folded when i had an entire rig in my cart and told them they could put it all back on the shelves if they didn't have a solution :ROFLMAO:

Holy god-forsaken fueda games...blocking NFS The Run in all locations, I realized like 80 cheap games I'm surprised even know what the "Internet" is had firewall access :LOL:

Next time someone has an unholy lag I suggest starting there, I have an app that tells me my speed and all apps using or sitting idle with net access so I never checked, but god damn I just spent a bit of time removing all that crap haha.

Which is why I mentioned upgrading ram, if possible. I know a lot of gamers are still using older hardware. Not everyone can have the latest and greatest and I understand that. Like I said 8G is borderline for win10/win11 now. Yeah it will load but if you wanna start multitasking (browser + game for example) you're gonna need a min of 16G. (I think the official windows DL page says min 2G ram. More is defo needed tho.)

Chrome is a resource hog and that ram upgrade from 8 to 16 would mean you can have more tabs open too (I've maxed mine out lol).

Moving on from HDD to SSD is a HUGE perfomance upgrade too, even if you only have the SSD dedicated to C: (windows and any other shit that refuses to install anywhere else.) Everything else can go on HDD's.

I moved all my games from an internal SSD (partitioned C: drive) to a bigger external HDD a few months ago and despite what forums tell you, no, games dont run any slower/take longer to load up. (And I have a 1G gpu so you dont need amazing hardware to play. I'm sure a 30's series would be lovely. I'm personally keeping an eye on the gtx970 but the market is still crazy here right now - around $200 which is a lot cheaper than it was a few months ago. I'll wait some more.)

Def minimal of 4GB, hell I have 4GB in a 16-Bit Dell just to run windows vista and Visual Studio 8 (like 12 ver. ago lol) without crashing.

Its a good idea.

My phone has 80+ tabs open (and I wonder why it lags lmao)...eleven just for IG with no alts haha.

I run my games off an 8TB NAS Drive using an SSD to load and making a Junction Point for the folder (so it puts temp files like shader files on the SSD still), its not doing any good for the drives lifespan, but I didn't buy an SSD for long life, I bought it for speed.

500 GB hang itself drive to run like 3TB worth of Steam Games...deal :ROFLMAO:

No arguments, except on loading times / during installation.

You get a "small" increase using the SSD directly on severely heavy games and online play, but you can always have 2 steam folders as well which in my case I reversed doing this twice so each is on the other drive.
Open an administrator command prompt and rename your "steamapp" (while steam is not loaded) folder temporarily before doing this...

MkLink /J "D:\Steam Games" "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps"

the cut and paste your steamapp files (whats inside the renamed folder) to the link folder it makes and steam thinks your library is actually on your SSD when its not ;)

Do be careful not to delete the "Steam Games" folder before reaming the steamapp folder again, it may erase it if it still points to a valid location.

Works for Epic, UPlay, etc. as well.

Beware touching Epic though, its anal about installations, I would only do this on a fresh install unless you know what your doing.

EDIT:

Avoid a GTX "anything" , at least look for a 2070 minimal with the new features...the RTX 3060ti from EVGA is a 12GB (good IMO) budget option, catch it on sale its only a few hundred bucks and your still using NVIDIA...as well as the best GPU manufacturer that'll ever exist, even though they stopped--they're warranty is still solid as well as the product.

A 40 would be the latest and greatest...I don't need one and I got this for the long haul.

No upgrades, never did it to be flashy...it was a long time investment. And it fucking hurt like hell lmao.

I almost bought metal gear for $3.60 to avoid the hassle, decided I didn't give a fuck and I wasn't pulling a sonic move again anyways...and bought RETRO Split/Second instead ;)

You can have it if your here...if not, well. Fair game.

EDIT:

And I'm pretty sure its not his game, wasn't my point or reasoning, we both wanted it for ages, caught it cheap. Did what I decided to do.
