Yeah I think the devs were different on the first two games and that maybe the story is better, but I don't remember exactly.

I've played Fallout 1 back in time was great. Then I played Fallout 3 on ps3, it was bugged on the console but I loved too. I should play it on pc aswell and in the future and I'd like to try NV too.
