I don't see what would stop a person from using ASF to fake their playtime and that Achievement Unlocker program to make it look like you legitimately played it. If they require a review, you can just watch somebody else play it on Youtube and fake that too. I wouldn't do that, but I bet somebody somewhere has at least tried it, maybe someone has already used ChatGPT to write the review. 😄
They check the logic of obtaining achievements. Not all achievements of all members of the group are checked, of course, but at the beginning it is for sure. If you got all the achievements at once, then your next achievement will be leaving the group. If you got the achievement for completing the game before the achievement for completing the first level... well, you should have a logical story about it. Plus, depending on the group, there are other things that can be checked. The ratio of time spent and declared time on HLTB, statistics in cumulative achievements, etc. There is logic in this, because if you want to play games and win keys for it, and want to have a better chance to win something, then please play, no one is forcing anyone to join those groups.

OK, I looked into it for a brief moment and it looks like if you're determined enough to cheat the system, you can. Steam Achievement Manager (SAM) allows you to select which achievements you wish to unlock. I could choose to unlock certain achievements today (like collect 100 gold/kill 100 monsters) then wait a day or 2 and do some more difficult achievements, all I would have to do is be careful to read what I'm unlocking and make it look legit with the right amount of playtime. The achievement for beating the game can be unlocked on day 16 and made to look legitimate. I don't know if you can make other achievements look like they've been halfway completed though (for example: I broke 53 out of the 100 bottles needed for the achievement). If every achievement is 100% that would look suspicious, you would need some that are only partly completed.

I'm not arguing with you, I'm just saying that cheaters will do anything to get a free game from raffles with few entrants. I don't even use SteamGifts and I was able to come up with a cheating system for it without much thought put into it.

Let's think. You need to learn the logic of getting achievements. View multiple player stats, view overall Steam achievement stats. Explore HLTB statistics. Customize the app to get them. Get them according to the learned logic. That is, kill a few hours for it. To what? But those few hours can be spent to play this game? The game you won for yourself to your account. Or the game that you yourself have chosen for verification when you apply to join the group. Maybe it's probably possible to do that, yes, but there's almost certainly some medical term for it.

Insanity, but I can lay out a perfectly good reason why somebody would go through all the trouble. Imagine your computer isn't good enough to play the latest Spiderman game (you can't play it) but you really want it, maybe some day you'll upgrade and be able to play it. If you fake it for just that game, it wouldn't be too much trouble. The games with low system requirements can be played until you beat them, this would help to make it look like you played every game properly.

Well, this is the true story of the last Christmas train. (a bit of context: invitation-only giveaways have much fewer participants, so every year such a giveaway is held, a link to it is given, and later users add their own in the comments, thereby creating a "cart of a big train"). So the biggest prize (Spidey) was won by the person whose computer can't run this game. It was a well-known fact. Now tell me, will that user who gifted it and know that it can't be played want to create a similar giveaway next time? Will all those who could win and play want to do similar gifts? Who won from it?
And yet, you can join a group, win once, try to fake (did I say about apps and users for separate checks? no, oh well), and if you get caught, get kicked out forever. Or join a group, win games and then play them all the time? There are no limits to human stupidity, you can search here on neighboring topics, and you will find some sellers of snake oil, but you need at least a little faith in humanity!

Nobody and nothing can stop cheaters. Some have reasons, some no, it doesn't matter much BUT they can't fully be stopped.. You can never be certain.
If it's worth the time or no, it depends on a lot of things and again, it doesn't matter to the outcome

It has been proven many times that no matter what people try to check, others will find a way around them

As for the creator.. He will probably lose his will IF he really cared for the game to have been played.. But he should had known that MANY times people cheat.. Especially in SG, especially in groups (and trust me most groups don't check most of the times.. or act on it), especially in events.

My "issue" with this is that YES, people should respect the creator's wish but the creator shouldn't ecpect that no one will cheat.. That's turning a blind eye on purpose..

Here are the games I played and beat completely in January!
Evan's Remains, Hexologic, LEGO Builder's Journey, PixelJunk Shooter, Quell Memento, Spirit of the North, The Franz Kafka Video Game, The Uncertain: Last Quiet Day, The Vanishing of Ethan Carter - Click in to see my thoughts and access previous months!
Hey Lair! I have some time to write down my thoughts on the games I completed in February while I watch the F1 season kick off this morning! So, lights out and away we go:

Adios - Was free through Epic Games - You play through an ex-mob member's final day. The writing was something I really liked about this game. The voice acting was on point and the conversation felt natural. The graphics were subpar (it has hilariously bad mouth talking animation) and there really wasn't much gameplay. I don't know how to describe it, but it's like a fenced in walking simulator. As you guide your friend/killer around your farm, you two reflect on life and what lead you to this point. It's an emotional story but left me feeling like it was too short to really get invested in any of the characters.

Hook - Free through LegacyGames - A puzzle game in which you free intersecting lines. It was never really hard to complete a level as you simply work your way back along a line step by step until you trace a path that works or move on to another line and repeat. Making it even easier is the fact that there is no move limit, and each level also allows you three wrong moves. The 50 levels this game contains go by quickly because of this. It's fun, and a neat concept, but lacking the "it" factor that the really good puzzle games have.

Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun - Was free through Epic Games - A tactical stealth game set in old Japan where you control a team of characters tasked by the Shogun to take down a mysterious Kage-sama who is trying to bring about war in a Japan that has found peace. This was my first tactical game, and I loved the concept and ability to traverse the environments, use character abilities, and manipulate NPCs to forge my own path to the goals. The levels were meticulously crafted to give you an incredible amount of freedom while also guiding you to the end result. Your team each has unique abilities that are so much fun to experiment with, and the story, while not super groundbreaking, is set up in a way to ensure your team composition varies each level, keeping things fresh. The game is very challenging to 100%, and though I did it, I really don't appreciate when games like this hide completion behind speed running badges for each level. It felt like a superfluous challenge tacked on to a game that in every other sense encourages you to be stealthy, careful, and take your time. The mis-clicks that happen were also very frustrating, such as when attempting a speed run only for the game not to register a command. Also, the character chatter is the same recycled five lines. I played the game in Japanese, which I do not understand, and my brain stopped registering the repetition. Regardless of the small annoyances, it's superbly well-made. I'm hooked and will for sure play the standalone Aiko's Choice DLC!

The Next Door - Gift from @jaromir-krzyszczak :) - I ain't on the kinda drugs it takes to understand what the fuck this game is lol. First level you literally enter a person's asshole and then float around as sperm... so talk about first impressions! It's like a puzzle walking simulator that I think is supposed to have some deep philosophical undertone, but it falls short. The music for each level is just a 15 second tune that repeats over and over, turning your brain into mush, making it harder to solve the already hard puzzles. The set pieces and levels are interesting and artistic, but that's it - I felt this was made more to be interactive art where the onus is on you to understand it rather than a game that is cohesive in any way. The end of the game puts you in a room with the Steam Greenlight reviews on the walls, and I'll leave you with two that really resonated with me:
"Looks and feels more pseudo- than actually psychologically rich in my opinion."
"Is there an objective to the game?"

There's definitely a hope for humankind, I can assure you)
And yes, this thread/forum made me too think that the world we're live in isn't as bad as I was thinking previously. There're still billions of bad ppl, but here...here's a paradise
Well, almost... 🤭

Yeah, I got the 1 ARP one thanks to you, of course))

What's next? XDDD

View attachment 10103

nice list, but dude...why to not minimize the image itself? o0
pretty please
P.S. So...how's it going? Are we playing today or what?
Just wake up LOL. 😴🤪

Speaking of yaromirro I have to thank him for gifting me Last campfire ♥️ wonderful gift . I actually stopped counting how many gifts you have gifted me in these 2 years :ROFLMAO: . You're a mate Jarro .

And to WhatNitrous , well I really don't have anything new to add that other members haven't already said so I will just summarize in two words ..... Thank you
And congratulations on getting new place to live ! This is just the first of your many victories in future , I am certain .

And to RETRO , thank you for hosting your daily giveaways for so long , it probably isn't easy handling so many keys . You're like a one man key army 🔑

It was a joke, but it does not seem he took it this way, now i don't know how to post here. No more jokes.
Oh $1000? You mean 10 HEDE game, lol
You've got me figured out 🤭
So I won't lie - at that price I figured I would buy the bundle and use it to level up from my current level 4 in the Giveaways section, but when I add the bundle to my cart, it says I can only purchase it for my account and I can't buy it as a gift since the price was personalized to my account. But I see the same price that @yelloweeksorcery showed.

Am I missing something in how Steam works? How is it personalized if others see the same price? Can I even buy keys from Steam and then share them? I might be asking dumb questions, but I'm not super familiar with this, as I have only bought games for myself on Steam before.

Do you have even 1 of those?
Also, not all bundles can be gifted through steam

No, you can't get a key through steam, only from other stores like IG, Fanatical, HB, GmG, GamersGate, etc etc etc

But I thought I can't post reviews of games in Steam for games I don't own in Steam (i.e. games I play through Epic Games Store)?

And thank you!! I don't have any of those games and they're not my cup of tea - I was just hoping to purchase the bundle and use the game keys to create giveaways so I could level up, but I now know that's not possible thanks to your answer.

You're really going to buy this pile of crap at that price just to level up on Indiegala giveaways ? Spoiler alert : you don't win that much either at level 6 or 7.
