So I just went to replace a dying 1TB HDD with a new 4TB Enterprise Toshiba HDD--one of the best drives I've ever come across for anyone who might care, quiet as a whisper even with more copy operations than Win 7 can handle and a disk clone program writing to it all at the same time, not so much as a hiccup. Literally a masterpiece as far as HDDs go, I'll definitely be using these for now on.
Anyways...I forgot that a 1:1 clone wouldn't boot off of a GPT drive and ofc MBR drives are limited to 2TB by default (Windows 7 clone), no MBR2GPT handy.
So I go to replace the drive and swap to Windows 10 after repeating the copy process practically 3 times...and then it hits me.
The drive is so old now the screw holes stripped and I had to put in bigger screws (which would strip the NEW drive), and who the fuck brings case screws as a necessity?
So I got a backup that needs to be converted and came in a fucking letter envelope with bubble wrap as a box that i had to put in my PC part box and can't even use yet.
At least I have a backup of the data, but you wanna talk about a fucking waste of my life and money I didn't have right now.
Be fucking jesus...I really need my own place again, I can't even do a minor repair on my own PC because my DVD drive is buried and my fucking parts are somewhere else, not to mention the small area I'm stuck in.
All that and the only thing I accomplished was feeling defeated and putting a brand new drive in a packing box without any good protection
Me and life are about to throw down if it doesn't start shining some sun in my direction
