ASF da new update
For New version of ASF, some of you can locked up at the part where it asks steam guard code
with new cell steam proggie here is how it works
open phone steam app and make a note of steam guard code
when ASF asks your steam guard code check your guard code from phone, memorize it but dont press authorize or anything.
Just as fast as possible write that memorized code to ASF
you are all set, If you fail to do this, your steam account at ASF will be locked for 20 minutes
and dont worry your ASF just got upgraded and your account not hacked or anything
note: you can authorize ip by pressing authorize button from phone app, after you enter the code right to ASF
good luck
Well, better than Steam causing the lock, can't say i'd be too comfortable with passing my Steam guard through it...but thats me.
I suppose they may have incorporated the Desktop authenticator I mentioned awhile back in a conversation less than worth the time it would take me to find it heh.
I'll be going through both apps at the source level eventually, but don't hold your breath for it to happen fast...I been insanely busy with one thing after another lately due to the move and everything involved (as always) going wrong nine times before it goes right.
I can't even give myself the green light to relax, forget promise other people anything...but I do feel the need to at least point out thats pretty much giving full authentication if you already give your username and password.
If its any risk I couldn't say, but the authentication is the only thing preventing any outside source from just being able to brute force your password...and thats all I'm going to say since I don't feel like getting into a huge debate.
2FA can be bypassed with some extreme skill, but its no easy thing to do and most modern methods don't even consider the old ways...but once you allow anything to bypass that point, especially if you give your credentials as well, there is no safeguard protecting you or even notifying you after that last line of defense.
I'm stating the simple fact of something any user should be aware of...whatever people choose to do with this information in hand is entirely their choice since I have no idea why this needed to be incorporated into the program or even how it worked before to a full extent.
Just food for thought, nothing more.
