I wish I was a native speaker. When I got into Borges, I had to deal with the problem of which author provided the best translation. I eventually settled onto the guy that worked personally with Borges but his books were out-of-print due to [allegedly] Borge's window greed. I think I was only able to get 1 or 2 books from di Giovanni.
Hi oldpete, The truth is that I haven't read much Borges, when I read him I had to pay so much attention that I was exhausted 🤯 (something similar happened to me with The Iliad) plus all the time I was aware that I was missing many meanings and connections for not having a greater general culture (Edit: more than anything else I refer to literature, the more you have read the more you will enjoy it), I usually say that it's writing for intellectuals which doesn't prevent normal people like me to scratch the surface a little 😅.

When you grow up you start to understand the relevance of translation, which always ends up being divisive, a professor used to say "traitor translator" (in Italian), in fact when you start to have contact with other languages and start doing small translations (with the help or not of online translators 😉) you start to live in your own flesh the dilemmas involved in trying to carry meanings from one language to another.

I think the best thing to do in those cases is to use several sources (translations), but we the humans (and more in those times of constant rush 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️) always want the "best and only" answer to the problem 😁.

Congrats to the winner 🥳

Same here except when I put his book down I'll always start again from the beggining.
I figured long ago that I'd either eventually be not tired/foggy enough to focus or I'd be dead. So that's a win-win for me. :p

Instead of a translation not being faithful to the book, Borges would say that it was the book that wasn't faithful to the translation. 🚬
The advantages of the di Giovanni's translation is that it's its own thing; it's not a translation but a transformative recreation of the original by both of them in english. That's F-ing cool right there. 🕶️

I have it but Im not sure Im really want to be the weak link in a squad of 4v4 or 6v6. It's interesting that every time I think about playing this game tho (like again today after your comment) I go check it out on steam (yes, again) and the reviews seems to get worse and worse.
Don't worry if you are weak and enjoy more the game. I played long time ago I don't know if it is worse now, but I still see many good reviews.
No one commented on my post asking for opinions on Mass Effect. Still cant decide. And today I see that Watch Dogs is on sale. It's tough, I know, but yep, I'm undecided again 😞
I played only Mass Effect 1 on ps3 and I enjoyed it, played Watch Dogs 1 too, I loved just crusing the city and enjoying the ride. The idea to hack things in the city was great.
This is a video I really like from WD1 made with ingame footage and music from it

Today the Lair is so strangly silent, only 1.5 page

maybe it had something to do with me be somewhat absent?🤭
Also...
You have a thing for anything with a twat :ROFLMAO:
I'm...not that desperate, I guess:unsure::ROFLMAO: Even though I probably should be...:ROFLMAO:
Thank you! I win it today in SG and already registered to acc ;)
Okay, congrats) Note to myself - quit joining those giveaways for someone else XDD
I mean, no matter how good the visuals are, I wouldn't be interested in a game with a story like:

This is Jill.
This is Jack.
They fuck
After every snack.

Jill likes rough,
For BDSM she begged.
Jack is the same
So he got pegged.
I'm so ON board with your opinion)

Congrats!!
Emmidiatly buy tickets to Las Vegas
ahah, so true XDDDD
I'm saving every ARP, but when I saw that Popeye outfit... Yeah, modern kids probably don't even know who is Popeye anyway.:(
damn it, bought it too the moment I saw it)) 😅
Nice, looks like another good month!
Yeah, but only if I manage to snag one of those in time)):devilish:
Miasma would be my first choice but I won't be Tier 4 for who knows how long. System Shock is my second pick - I'll probably reach Tier 3 in a week, but I don't know if it's worth it to spend so much ARP on the remake (although I like and have both SS games).
Well, judging by what I've seen from the video-reviews, it's the same as the OG game, but a little bit easier and looking HELLA better. Some would argue that it wasn't too great of a decision to make it literally the same in terms of story/gameplay, but...maybe for fans?)
Oh, great, another cardless game from my Steam wishlist!) Thanks, I guess I'll take it here and not there^^

No dlc ever include base game. it assume you already have.
these character are original so no need to buy, can grind shard (level up) and buy for free in game

nicolas cage is different, i bet is premium only, no way to get without pay (not this dlc, not in vault at all, very probably future)
