From a web page (registerkey) or in the client? Last time I added a game by activating it on a web page while my steam client was also running I got a msg saying something like "success, we see your client is open. Would you like to install remotely?" I clicked no. But this was before the update on the 15th That was the first time I'd seen that message. Maybe it was just coincidence that I happened to have the client running at the time since I prefer to activate keys in a browser anyway.

I havent even opened the steam client since I saw people here noticing problems with it but I was online playing on the 15th when it popped up that there was an update so I opened it in a browser page to read. You can read it here. I decided to wait.

I hope ppl are letting steam know they're having issues tho. Someone else mentioned the back button doesnt work like in a browser any more and if that's true then what a dumbass move that is. I use it all the time flicking between the store & my library, or whatever the last thing I was doing is.

I say use only wallet code page

5-5-5 = 15 letters/digits and millions of game codes

some revoked and some will be erased from their db and some will be deactivated such as from bad key shops

example is a beta trial code that expires, or a timed amazon prime or fanatical goodie
another example is gaming company gets bankrupt or eliminated from steam for any reason.

and there may be a slight chance some of the same codes can activate more than once in time or readded to their db as a new game or wallet code

I tried several times to activate a wallet code on h ttps://store.steampowered.com/account/registerkey.
So the other way around. It did not work. So I Duckduckgod it and found out there was another way for it.

Yes, discussions on Steam Client Beta are on fire right now, several dozens of new threads pop up every day. I've submitted 3 or 4 with my own suggestions and bug reports. I hope they're going to roll out a fix asap

I blame the Steam deck, but I could be wrong...it may just be the first attempt at a co-device setup...first thing I noticed was it looked like my phone app--which I despise.
