I can't remember any news at the moment🤔, but Idk if this can be considered news, but Steam did an update and it was terrible, for me and some others here.:(
Oh most of the update is indeed trash and full of problems (for steam, the users and 3rd party websites like steamdb, etc etc)
Now I want to turn my attention to EVERY epic hater because of their launcher/store........ Everyone forgot it was and still is the same mess.. And that it had yeeeeears to develop.. But most of us have steam open 24/7 so we forget :p

I was just having the same discussion elsewhere xD

welcome

same old same old but about Epic I can give you news

Sony makes big investment at Epic, Epics hand next year will be very strong (+Unreal 5)

Sony
has invested an additional $1 billion in Epic Games, which announced the completion of a new $2 billion funding round on Monday.

The Playstation maker already had a minority stake in Epic, having invested $450 million in the Fortnite and Unreal Engine maker since July 2020.

KIRKBI, the holding and investment company behind The Lego Group, also invested $1 billion in Epic in the latest funding round, which is designed to accelerate the companies’ ambitions in the metaverse space.

We will see exclusives for Epic.

Hmmm.. Not only exclusives. I think they can finally add the features they wanted for the store and launcher. They will have money for many extra coders!!!!

I use epic daily. Steam maybe twice a week now except for the last week or so because I saw peeps having issues with the new launcher.

When steam updated to the new launcher a couple of days ago.. that's when I remembered I was supposed to be waiting for the fixes before letting it update. The only thing I dont have an issue with right now is I have a back button that functions like it used to. Lots of others dont.

I opened steam to play apex for the AWA event. OMG its way worse than epic as a resource hog for me right now. Maybe others dont have this issue. Im not one of the users who leaves steam running 24/7. I couldnt now even if I wanted to. meh I hope there's a fix for it soon, coz yikes it's bad for me. (lol sorry, noticed the typo make me look drunk..fixed it :ROFLMAO: )

Not really related to issues but has anyone else noticed that epic has grown a LOT over the last few months? Free games are nice (I missed last week's..meh) but have you noticed how many devs are moving to epic? I have. Its curious.

Hope things get better for you. 2023 is sucking for a lot of us. Congrats on the new job!
Some memorable things I can think of that you've missed:
Nitrous had a bug problem in his new place (🐜 ) now he has a plumbing issue.
AWA is messing with the arp system behind the scenes and keeping us :alien: s on our toes.
Steam launcher is shit now 😒
Catguts (I think it was) wants to learn coding 🤓
Several awesome ppl doing giveaways 🤓
Think I need :coffee: to help me remember lol. Some days are quiet, some days are hectic here. 😁

ahhh I was right.

another: AQUIRIS (devs of Horizon Chase Turbo, Horizon Chase, upcoming HC2 for all platforms - its apple only right now) has now become Epic headquarters of Brazil.
another: MediaTonic: (fall guys) moved from steam to epic. EDIT: uk based.. so will this become the uk epic headquarters? I've wondered
Also half the MT team then moved to the Fortnite team (also Epic) Both were a year ago exactly, but noteworthy .
I know more just cant remember them right now, but yeah I've noticed the shift.

You got the newscast all wrong this time boss.

More likely sony is done fighting a losing console war against Nintendo and needs a PC portal, I'm betting all they invest is the games they can't sell anywhere else.

Epic has no official stance on offline play or DRM on every load of a game (FF7R for one)...no promise of offline play like steam--so its less likely people crack the DRM...this is a greed based decision, not an investment.

Sony is too big in other areas to really die...but last I read the playstation area was in serious debt.

^^ Fall Guys.. yeah but I like it so play a lot. Having friends in different timezones can mean Im sometimes firing up fall guys several times a day so we can help each other out with challenges or just chill, play & chat (or bitch about other beans griefing us lol) in discord while we play.

I play on Roblox too, but you guys arent interested in that either lol.

I keep eyeing up fortnite. Update it. Go watch a couple of yt vids about it and go round in circles with wanting to try it but dont wanna be that n00b who constantly dies first (tho apparently you get xp for it so I'll get around to it). The struggle of starting a new (to me) game against much better players is real.

Hrm .. Apex, Destroy All Humans! (ps3), DOOM Eternal which my pc really struggles with, let alone me lol, same with DBD, Burnout Paradise. uhm

I play a lot of beat saber in vr. That counts too right?

uhm .. I dont seem to have my remembering cap on today. And for now I'd really rather not open steam & check lol. (You've been gone for an eternity so I expect I've tried more games than I can remember right now.) Feeling pretty lame at the number of games I've played now that I think about it. 😭

You had time to play anything?

Well shit. I just got a ps4 😒
Tho I expect they get much more revenue from online game sales (thru the PS store) and membership. Neither of those they're getting from me right now since 2nd hand discs are plentiful here.

Oh I didnt post this yet? lol off I went reading awa again oops. So coming back to this thought. Im neither pro nor con of either company (Sony vs Nintendo). I have several playstations. I also have several NDSL's. I'd love a switch. I'd love a crapload of other stuff like a Steam Deck and a quest pro/quest 3 but that's just the greed monster in me. Thankfully I dont get to feed it often. Not to mention it's often undecided :ROFLMAO:

So coming back to this thought. Im neither pro nor con of either company (Sony vs Nintendo). I have several playstations. I also have several NDSL's
I switched to Sony myself when the N64 came out, never bothered with the consoles after that, my next move was to PC...the switch is the first one I'm actually interested in.

I had 2 jailbroken PSP systems at one point, as well as a CFW Nintendo DS to program on...since sony SOLD the dev kit even to aspiring developers for something over a grand and no other tools were handy at the time I never had the chance to try on those.

EDIT:

My VR headset almost ended up being an Oculus DK2 because it could be programmed on, but it was almost extinct ;)

I actually had a Vita and still have a Vita TV (although its basically dead unless I hack it--which requires an old CFW Vita), and mine was stolen by a 'friend' I'll never speak to again unless it with my first or worse.

Regardless this was my system lineup since it became my choice...

PS2, GBA, PS3, PSP, NDS (/wi GBA Port), bought a Gamecube to play GBA on the big screen since my back injury makes handhelds break my spine as I'm getting old

Then Vita TV 'right' before it died, for the Trails Of Cold Steel games since I loved them on PSP...so I bought a Vita as well.

Before that I had an NES as my childhood system and would have preferred an SNES above all...but ended up with a Genesis (also stole a Gamegear because GB was still B&W), and I figured a color handheld would be much better, but the genesis was my parents doing entirely.

Everything after the NDS (and its variants) starting with the 3DS IMO was Nintendo testing for VR Life long before anyone else, and I still think they're going to drop a bomb one day with a 'true' VR system (think the matrix without the agents lol) out of the blue that destroys all the ones we think are great now.

Bye bye Meta, Vive, and all this bullshit about AI thats not even really AI...we can't even find a fucking can of sardines on the ocean floor...they do not produce other intelligent life (thank the gods), and they fall far from the true concept of AI...they are trained not like we learn...they are simply programmed with information we feed them, the whole concept is to see how people react to the fear.

The only real fear is them taking jobs and stealing creative works...they learn by mimicry so they can do any task we can show them to do and they are getting all the info we ask for from other people (thats a creative issue), but they don't even incorporate it into themselves as we would smply absorbing information and learning from our mistakes--the program is retrained and the old 'thought' deleted from the database...whats a fucking joke, they just want to see people go hysterical now so they'll be long over the shock factor when we reach that point.

They still can't automate the fucking popcorn button on a Microwave and we all know that everyone cooks pop secret or their local version of it if they use a microwave and it never takes 5 fucking minutes :ROFLMAO:
bruuuuuuh no salt. You know we all care :p
Well they fixed the sink, and fucked up more shit...attached a socket next to the OTHER sink thats hose adapter comes off and never replaced the hose adapter (outlet is also theft from upstairs--which is why I disconnected the fucking thing lol)...and sunk in one of my floorboards with the toolkit they brought because they never did the floor right in the first place.

But ya, the bugs and the major leak are gone...owner never even spoke to me, so now Idk if he even got my message, time for a certified letter--and now I want answers about the floor considering thats WHERE the bug issue came from and it ALREADY fucking sunk into the mud or whatevers beneath the thin ass snap together garbage they used that I'm guessing should have rugs on top.

Ignored me telling them I smell burning burning, the staff has to be friends with the people above fucking me...so here we go again.

But this time she's not here so I have no worries about leaving her homeless.

They have no fucking idea what kind of shit storm their in for...I make most lawyers look bad and they've already done at least 9 things illegally in the worst areas a household situation can actually be illegal, water, electricity, and sanitary.

Breaker panel is a Stab-Lok brand thats banned by electrical code--and missing a breaker so I could stick my finger inside and get zapped to death, they ignored two out of three plumbing issues and a potential fire...owner accidentally put that heat was included on my lease

Bugs are always a big no no, as well as the gap between the floor and wall big enough to let them stroll in...forget the fact they cut the snap together floor panels INSIDE with a table saw instead of a wet saw and left the poison dust from doing it under fucking heaters when it should have been done outside, if it had to be done at all.

I could keep going, but thats more than enough to get my point across here at least heh.

Nintendo will never die

I need to search the financials to answer this aaaand no time for that. From memory Sony isn't really in debt. Something else caused this not ps. I don't remember which investment it was but not gaming or tv
You had time to play anything?
Ok, first of all.. You are a multiplayer gamer 100%
The only multiplayer game I really like apart from card games (duuuh) is.. lineage 2 xD And that anymore is only private servers.. Not the official ncsoft one. I like Interlude
I did play a bit of L2 (lineage 2) and Pocket Mirror Pocket Mirror ~ GoldenerTraum on Steam which I recommend 10000000000% (and daily dadish!!! shameless promotion, awesome platformer)
I switched to Sony myself when the N64
The fanbase and major games of nintendo are so profitable it will make your head spin.. Combine all AAA together and they still earn less than Pokemon.. It's INSANE
I could keep going, but thats more than enough to get my point across here at least heh.
FIND A 4 LEAF CLOVER, A LUCKY RABBIT FOOT, A LUCKY CAT.. YOU NEED LUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK
