The "Old" vs "New" is just a way I see the band's eras.
Before 2018 they focused on fusing J-pop and Heavy Metal to really establish Kawaii Metal as a genre. They released two albums, won awards, and outlined the original Fox God storyline.
In 2018 their guitarist, Mikkio, died and Yuimetal left the band. So, I consider this the "split" between eras.
After 2018, they began working on a "new narrative" and released two concept albums that experimented with different music styles from around the world. They also began collaborating with guest artists. This culminated in their announcement of a "reborn Babymetal" and the introduction of a new third member, Momometal, in April this year.
Who knows, maybe this is the start of a third era of the band...

...we started with about 6 real genres as old as time, even the fusing of those made sense to some degree but at this point I swear they just make shit up on the fly and go on television to explain what "blend" of bullshit it consists of so they can claim to have created something new.
Death Metal (Screamer bands to me)--and they should have just called it rock with no real lyricist involved is probably the one thing I can make an exception for...because it definitely doesn't deserve to be in any other category
I definitely don't consider Sevendust death metal although I love there music, I give them more credit than that heh.
Sevendust are like nu-metal, it has nothing to do with death metal (neither the original death, nor the modern one's).
Can't remember their sound, but I'm pretty sure they're more akin to Slipknot, am I right?
And if you want to know what death meatal is, you have three way street:
1)
to the roots - something like Canniball Corps, where it's gorry and violent, you can barrely find any melody there
2)
the melodic one - I dunno, try something like Children of Bodom, I think you'd feel the difference
3)
the modern one i.e. death core, technical deathcore etc. - that's my stuff, it's great and it actaully has lyricist involved. Damn, their lyrics are better than the eminem's or any pop singers' lyrics.
Its like when they slapped Mass effect into the RPG category in my eyes...they just found a way to bend the rules and make it accepted even though it doesn't belong there in the most warped gaming universe.
Wait WHAT?? WHY? Explain please, 'cause it's clearly an RPG, alas it's the one kind of RPG's I don't like...
