Free Fps games based on Doom and Wolf3d engine:

Project Crypt
Horror Fps similar to Cry of Fear
DLC:

Retroninjacyberassassin
Fps with gore and references to 90s culture.
DLC:
Retroninjacyberassassin: Raider of the Lost Issue

Fury's Sky
not Fps but is based on Doom engine, it looks more like Star Fox game:

This one is based instead on Wolf3d engine:

Halloween Reviews - Choice of Games' Vampire the Masquerade

It's Halloween month and I'd like to introduce you to games that probably most of you didn't play because we're talking here about pure text choose-your-own-adventure type of games by one of my favourite developers, Choice of Games (and their subdivisions, Hosted Games and Hearts' Choice).

The games don't have any visuals apart from portraits of the characters you meet but let's not that dissuade you - some of these 4 games I'll write about are so unbelievably awesome that even those who don't like to read will enjoy them!

I could start in alphabet order or by release date because the order would be the same. So, the first one is...

You are a courier (raise hands if your first thought was Fallout New Vegas!), but a Kindred courier. Kindred is the term for vampire in the VtM world. Your car just broke in the middle of the desert and dawn is near...

Basically, that is just an intro that will help shape your character - your Clan, gender, name, Disciplines, stats... After surviving dawn (and something else) and making your first moral decisions, you'll reach Tucson and hand out your delivery package. And then it's all about your choices! The story will take you to Dallas, TX, to the Nevada desert, Phoenix, AZ... You'll meet (or not meet!) potential allies and enemies, dark secrets of your past, potential romances, picking sides... Just like in any other RPG, you'll be able to upgrade your stats, but you'll also earn money and use that money for buying/upgrading vehicles, weapons, equipment and your haven.

The game is surprisingly long for a text adventure and while it's dealing with vampire politics and intrigues, I'd say it's probably the most action-oriented out of those 4 games. It has insane replayability potential because every Clan has some different story elements - different Sires of your protagonist, different way of playing - because it's a huge difference playing as ugly Nosferatu who must hide from mortals not to breach Masquerade or charming Toreador, using their charisma to solve the problems. I mean, I just finished recently a playthrough as Lasombra. For those who don't know, that clan is notorious for their inability to use most modern electronic devices - because devices don't recognize them as human beings - on security cams they look like a blurred image and the same is true with any reflective surfaces (mirrors etc). So, hacking or even talking on the phone is a pain in the vampire's ass.

The game has one DLC that adds some clans - and that DLC was a must-buy for me because it had Tremere, my favourite clan. The good thing with all Choice of Games games is that you can sync your Steam account with your CoG account and then simply play these games on your phone - which I do quite often.

So - my final verdict: VtM Night Road is the best VtM cRPG that can go side by side in quality with VtM Bloodlines.

10 / 10 🌃

Pros:

+ very replayable because every Clan playthrough is different
+ settings, atmosphere and story
+ stats are true to the tabletop version
+ little details like listening to radio talk shows that talk about things you saw yourself but from a mortal perspective or doing side-quest with your chosen retainer (ghoul)

Cons:
- I'm still waiting for Obsidian, Owlcat or CD Projekt Red to pick this story and create an AAA game out of it
