F1 Race Stars - 5 GB
This is a CodeMaster version of Mario Kart Meets F1 Racing and I have to say...I was pretty fucking impressed with it, except drifting seems to be a pric, but that may be a perk thats based on driver choice I haven't came across yet.
You drive little mini animated F1 Kart looking vehicles with Big Head racers like the Topps baseball cards some of you may be familiar with if your into sports or trading cards.
Like all good kart racing games you have item pick ups on course which vary from speed boosts to weapons, unlike other kart racers though your vehicle gets damaged if your hit by an opponents weapon and the course has pit stop style side paths that repair you as you continue driving for the slight cost of the detour time which is an interesting twist.
Course conditions effect you as well (rain, offroad, etc), which will make choosing the right driver for the right course an actual decision process once you get familiar with all the perks and what they do and get further into career mode.
Game modes include Career, Single Race, Time trial, and Online race...although the game is delisted and I have no intention of ever testing the online play myself, so I'm not sure if its a dead zone--but I think this game is actually one of the few kart racing games its going to be fun playing solo honestly.
Driving and controls are solid--my earlier drift remark aside, like you'd expect from a CodeMaster title (NFS Hot Pursuit, Burnout Paradise, etc.)...controls are flawless even with my generic, and the graphics are an odd mesh of realism and cartoon so not a heavy load on the GPU or processor even at max.
I can only assume this title was delisted for licensing reasons and must not have drawn a big crowd during its initial run (I didn't know it existed myself) because it gives Sonic and Mario Kart games a run for their money with its touch of realism...although it lacks any characters people know and love unless your a hardcore real life racing fanatic...I stick to games personally heh.
Its doesn't pass the ADHD test because its not a wild enough ride like NFS, but it passing the Kart Racer bar for sure and its an enjoyable little game when your in the mood for less intense racing thats not totally beyond reality...or you have a Go Kart craving.
This one gets a
from me.
Terror Of Hermasaurus - 800 MB
A bad rampage clone, as I expected it would be...its entertaining enough, but the building are literally square pixel like lego blocks (you can tell your hitting a block and not a part of a building as a separate graphic)
The gameplay is flawed in multiple ways, even on the block by block objects you don't climb buildings right (although you have more freedom of movement than rampage), the targeting is off a bit in every way...you can jump onto helicopter but the collision for it is so bad it feels random rather than something you can do when you want.
Even with all these flaws, its still fun...I'm on the fence for a rating on this one, it definitely needs some serious improvement but I can't say it was horrible.
Got my attention for about 4 levels before my ADHD got bored (yes, it does that by itself and it is a singular object with a mind of its own
)
I'd say its worth having, but its nothing your gonna write home about or talk to with your gamer friends on a daily basis.
With that being said...I'm gonna stop talking about it with mine right now
Lost Castle - 1.5 GB
Total loot game, and a bad one at that...I must have played the same 2 areas 10 times and actually got killed more as time went on...swear i was upgrading the enemies instead of myself
ADHD Requirements Failed.
