you love collecting removed steam games
That's the problem - there is no definition. Give me your definition and I'll show you exceptions. Well, unless your definition is just a list of models you consider consoles - then, sure, it's good and precise (but it will not last long, because all new devices won't be a consoles by this definition).Consoles by definition are console and Pc are Pc. There are Amiga, Commodore 64, Zx Spectrum: they were sold back in time as "home computer" you can use them both for office programming and ofc also gaming.
Now or then? At that time it was very good, not much worse than the state of browsers in mobile phones. Plus a good additional memory for DS, with which you can run... homebrew Quake.I own nintendo ds browser and is far to replace a pc with it, it's only a browser based on Opera and is very slow to navigate online also doesn't load properly some pages.
You need a hacked card for more memory on DS, the Gameboy Advance is actually superior to the NDS as far as memory goes. It was impossible to make a GBA emulator on the DS systems that removed the slot due to the limitations which is why they made cards like this one.
I would know, I was trying to make my own emulator and I couldn't because of the memory issue, these cards have memory built into them and allow the DS to access it.

Yep I know about hacks, I was following the scene for ps3 but never tried, I prefer to keep it original there were some brick cases and online ban risk.On PlayStation 2 and up you can install Linux, Playstation actually uses FreeBSD Fedora on it (as far as I'm aware), I was able to clone a PS3 drive using bit by bit copy to an ISO and open it using programs like 7-zip, although Windows couldn't recognize it as a drive if I cloned it to PC, linux likely might have.

Linux for PlayStation 2 - Wikipedia

I actually have to agree with the rabbit on this one...consoles are literally PCs with no access to the actual OS running them, there is literally no difference (especially now), except they have cheap parts, are more likely to die, more expensive to fix and upgrade, and you can't access the OS underneath without a jailbreak at a minimal.
This is why most Playstation hacks use elf files, linux/freebsd based format, they are designed to run on the system already.
I agree on this, nowdays consoles are more complex then before they are able to do many things as computer, but I still call them consoles and not computerA console is basically a gaming OS for dummies that don't want to deal with problems just to game, the PS5 era consoles have mostly PC parts, Xbox has always just been a literal computer.
I have nothing against consoles honestly, I just realized you were paying for a watered down gaming PC in a fancy case with a locked disc drive format and an Apple style OS for a ton of money and then being forced to buy the same games when they clearly could have run on any of the newer systems![]()
so huge cabinets to collect them, you could strip them take just the arcade system board stripped and connect to tv, if you want to play real hardwareAll just PCs, even Arcade Cabinets are a PC. They are so expensive because each cabinet is its OWN PC, plus they're fucking humungous lol.
That's the point, the definition of consoles could be list of models. Let's do a simple example If you go to electronic shop and ask for a PC they don't show you a console but the PC.That's the problem - there is no definition. RightEmulators don't emulate consoles in truth, they emulate the software on the consoles to play the format the games are in on cartridge or disc.
Save yourself a long pointless debate ken![]()
lol the small fan, the downside of having too things inside a small box. I guess the small fan can't do good and need to replace the thermal paste from time to time. (can't say I never owned x-box)They are all the same hardware, although some of the hardware may differ, its the same concept in a box. (or x-box lol)
This is why your comment about controllers on console only boggled my mind

I meant then, I had better experience surfing with Symbian on my Nokia mobiles 6600 and N82. Quake homebrew was good on ds, with my Nokia N82 it had av video cable output I could connect to a TV and play Quake 1,2,3 something like this:Now or then? At that time it was very good, not much worse than the state of browsers in mobile phones. Plus a good additional memory for DS, with which you can run... homebrew Quake.
GBA was first, after they removed the GBA port on DS they cut costs and refuced the memory.Really Gba is superior then Ds with memory? Maybe I missed something, I always though DS > GBA.
That's the point, the definition of consoles could be list of models. Let's do a simple example If you go to electronic shop and ask for a PC they don't show you a console but the PC.
Then as I said to WN two posts above, I could agree with the fact consoles are capable to do much more then gaming.
Right![]()
That was actually the PS5...fan was like the size of an SSD cage style fan lol. Maybe a bit bigger, definitely not big enough lol.lol the small fan, the downside of having too things inside a small box. I guess the small fan can't do good and need to replace the thermal paste from time to time. (can't say I never owned x-box)
So do I, because they are....but really its just a locked down PC, has been since the old days.I agree on this, nowdays consoles are more complex then before they are able to do many things as computer, but I still call them consoles and not computer![]()
OK, here's a simplified answer:
A NES cartridge works just like other game cartridges. It's an EPROM chip (EPROM - Wikipedia), a type of read-only memory that can be erased via ultraviolet light.
Developers could burn beta code, erase, then burn again. The final result would be a gold master.
Nintendo's next step would be to record the data (the final code) on the cartridge at the factory. Cartridges were then shipped to stores.
Once the game console is booted, it "verifies" that it's about to run a legitimate game. The CPU then starts executing the code... And the rest is history.
P.S. NES cartridges often had extra chips built-in in order to upgrade the hardware's graphic and sound capabilities. Games like Castlevania III for example had 7-channel sound in Japan. Other games relied on extra chips in order to offer extra storage capacity (bank-switching) or to be able to scroll to all directions instead of only going from left to right.
You did it right getting the Ds lite backGBA was first, after they removed the GBA port on DS they cut costs and refuced the memory.
Older ones with the GBA on it had the same amount, the newer ones had less memory than GBA, shocked the hell outta me too. I literally traded my DS for a new one and then traded back after trying to make the emulator![]()
With ps3 I started to notice the overheating with heavier games as GtaV and Uncharted 3. Gta V really pushed hard the ps3.
That was actually the PS5...fan was like the size of an SSD cage style fan lol. Maybe a bit bigger, definitely not big enough lol.
So do I, because they are....but really its just a locked down PC, has been since the old days.
Its all software and our perception...they all run on a CPU of some sort or another.
lol incredible! Don't know why using a Nes ?!Ironically NES used what was used to upgrade the DS for the GBA addition according to a reddit user anyways.

sure, i was searching for a rts game that i may like, think the last one i played for a long time was a game that we had dragons and trained trops to attack others and collect resources
I bought that game from the gray market years ago for around 2 dollars. In order to play it, it was necessary to install "Games for Windows - LIVE". Do you know a way to play it without installing it?I'm terrified to ask how much you paid for that considering I picked it up for $3View attachment 16936
XD someone may say that i have multiple personality disorder at gala's forum XDPrad0visk is not my father must be the funniest text on this thread in a long time! LOL.![]()
because u value ur enjoyment when trading, and other value the prices, and when they get on humble the prices and " value" to the game drops( not the playable value) but u can also see things like, if the " value" drops, u don't need a 80 dollar to trade for a 7 dollars one, u can trade a 12...7... or even less for the game u wanted so u "save" some moneyBut it's a good game. I never understood why are regular gamers so obsessed with prices when it comes to trading games - I'd give you the newest CoD "worth" 80€ for any Choice of Games release worth 7€ - and the reason is obvious: the former sucks, the latter is something I'd enjoy.
i think only jacksparrowing it?I bought that game from the gray market years ago for around 2 dollars. In order to play it, it was necessary to install "Games for Windows - LIVE". Do you know a way to play it without installing it?

Note: I had custom artwork on that game like all other games don't have a grid artwork as far as I can find a good one.
I hope you understand that this is not a definition at all. Because someone had to make the list, and different people have different opinions about it! Visit r/SteamDeck - the arguments "is a SteamDeck a console or PC" keep re-appearing every week. Exactly because of what I told you - there is no strict definitions. Is Mac a PC? Is mini-PC on arm64 architecture a PC? Is xbox on x86 architecture a console? That's the point, the definition of consoles could be list of models. Let's do a simple example If you go to electronic shop and ask for a PC they don't show you a console but the PC.
