My opinion stems from the old days when we had like 7 genre, gun games were shooters, RPGs were turn based, even when they added the ATB gauge it was still similar to turn based (the bar just became visible lol), sports were sports, you get my drift.

I found Pingus is under Gnu public license freeI don't think that's it, you can't copyright the word for penguin, especially without the "Madagascar" part. I'd be more concerned that the "Five Nights at Freddy's" guy would sue him, but yeah I can certainly see changing something like Tetris>Tetrix / Super Mario>Super Jario, etc.
The penguin thing reminded me of something, you said that Lemmings was in the Windows Store, but when I looked all I found was something called Pingus (a Lemmings clone) so I played some levels and enjoyed it.
It says it has "in-app" purchases, but I don't remember seeing any when I played it, it looks like it's totally free to me.
Pingus - Screenshots of Version 0.7 (seul.org) made for Linux originally then it's possibile to play on windows too.
Another game I enjoyed to play when I used to have Linux was SuperTux, it's free Mario clone for Windows
