Now i'm playing two classic style rpg's...question of the day, which grind am i in the mood for
I started also a classic style rpg I had in the backlog, for the moment everything is smooth and I'm enjoying it, it doesn't look grind. I played like 4hrs straight I'm quite hooked :p The game looks having a balanced difficulty that's good for me. If a game like this is too hard or too grindy probally I drop it soon.
The game is Xanadu Next and it's part of the Dragon Slayer 2 Xanadu and somehow linked to Faxanadu that is my favourite Nes game.
Nihon Falcom games looks always nice to play and I should dig more their games. I was tempted to replay FF7 after long time then I decided to play this game I played the N-gage version back in time.
Yesterday I spent some time to make it run in 16:9 because the game is 4:3 with side black borders.

Be glad to give it away if I did lol.

I always avoided that particular game for some reason, let me know if it stays enjoyable eh?

Hundred Heroes isn't very grindy honestly...if you've played suikoden then you would be familiar with the leveling style...you can only gain so many levels depending on the area and monsters before exp dries up to almost nothing.

It really is as similar to Suikoden as it could get (not surprising with an original designer on board) down to the loading screen with a running character.

Ironically Suikoden itself became one of my favorite games because the character recruiting was the only one EVER similar to one lf my favorite NES games, Destiny of an Emperor and thats why I was waiting for its original release for Playstation when I was younger heh.

In reality the Trails games (the other one i'm playing) have the same style level cap with experience...but they also have sepith and THAT can get grindy, along with money.

Back before they made the DLCs all bundle packs I would buy the extra accessory set (for instant death protection--always included) and a single sepith DLC for like 5 bucks total to ease the grind but this particular game was fan made and supported by the creators, so it actually has absolutely no DLC...seems they truly believed in the classic style when they worked on it and decided against extra cash grabs entirely... i'm perfectly fine with that mind-set and I'll fucking grind to avoid the now like $200 (never being purchased by me) DLC every game added since Trails Of Cold Steel IV, which I refuse to buy because of the price with DLC packs in order to avoid that grind, once I saw the price I lost interest in Cold Steel III entirely because I knew I wasnt going to see lart IV for like 3 years when the price dropped

Ok! Maybe may rate could be influenced by the love I have for Faxanadu game eheh, there is also another game on steam I have in the backlog I'd like to try from Xanadu serie it is Tokyo Xanadu but it looks really different , it is set in modern times and not fantasy world, I think it isn't even related to Xanadu serie but is made by same developers (Nihon Falcom), I'm not sure if I could enjoy Tokyo Xanadu too.

Hundred Heroes looks cool, I don't have for the moment but if you say it overheat your pc, it's a big pass for me on my laptop you know, I would stick with less intensive cpu/gpu games better optimized.
I remember Suidoken for psx but I never played it, I think I could enjoy, yes I remember you talked about Destiny of an emperor, that is my kind of games as Shining Force serie with turn based combat and you start with one character then other members will join the party later.
Btw I see a Suidoken 1-2 remaster will come out (soon?) on steam.
If you like having many heroes and you play on mobile too I'd suggest Fire Emblem Heroes, I played for a while, now I don't play mobile games but maybe I would reconsider to re install it. It is one of few quality games I played on mobile and I used to try many in the past lol. The character design is so good also.

In reality the Trails games (the other one i'm playing) have the same style level cap with experience...but they also have sepith and THAT can get grindy, along with money.

Ehm I don't like when devs wants to milk too much with extra dlc, as the base game was already cheap. It could be ok if they are just character cosmetics that I don't care and I won't buy, but when they sell dlc that will affect the game difficulty that's not good for me.

Tokyo Xanadu
Thats not part of those directly as far as i'm aware, but it is based on them. its definitely different, more of a persona or Valkyrie Drive style too it...the battles are action based almost to the point of fighting game. Personally I loved it and I wish they made a follow up, thats actually why i was interested in the other xanadu games

Thats the reason I mention it, but actually after the first area its been much better 🤷‍♂️ i'll let you know if that changes.

Been on my wishlist (here even) but i've beat the entire series multiple times, I actually still own the original 3 games on PS.

pass :ROFLMAO:

me either, the problem is they mixed the cosmetics WITH the grind avoiding DLC. That was too far lol.

Finally Steam adds a functional demo button

Nice indeed! However how many combinations are there for publishing demos and their outcomes?

Let's take a look:
-The delisted Hellpoint Demo. I claimed it before the delisting and it's still in my library, which is probably because it's a standalone product
-Resident Evil 4 Chainsaw Demo is a standalone demo without the add to library option...
-All the demos falling under the umbrella of their full games, lacking the "add to library" option. Until now

I'd like clarity on whether my claimed demos will remain in my library forever, or can be removed at any time by the creator or Steam, as happened with Valfaris: Mecha Therion Demo, no longer available in the store or my library. It was under the full game page.
