for sure it is different twist than most occidental games

Although it has it fetch quests which caused me to skip alot of early dialogue I regret doing now

Trails has this way of bringing the chatacters to life with comedy and realistic backgrounds that you don't see in many JRPG's even now.
For example, Trails in the sky has a female main character (duo actually--but shes the lead), and to date she is one of my all time favorite MC...and back then female leads werent common at all.
This is one lf the best scenes...but you need to know the characters (and mute the video) to really appreciate it

Ironically that game has two full titles in one small world and still never failed to entertain with its repetative areas...its the third game they botched in a new dungeon style thats more like what your saying heh.
This one was started by fans and is entirely true to something in the era of those games, even walking in box like zones like the PSP or another older system would have..and I enjoy it more than the recent titles.
