I'm a giant fan of Lovecraftian horror, be it games, movies, books....
The man was a horrible person from i gathered; racist, misogynist, treated his wife like crap, praised the nazi party....but an amazing writer and created the all cosmic/lovecraftian horror genre.

Generally, yes. The problem is that in current year some judge the past based on the values they picked up last Tuesday, and then condemn anyone that doesn't pass their purity test, even if they did many great things. If they did one thing they don't like, that everyone else of the time considered commonplace, then they're a bad person and must be purged.
