ho, ok (y)
more a lib than a language ?
Its a simplified engine to run VNs instead of actually learn python...I'm a real low level programmer by nature, so I'm trying to do things its not inherently meant to do and thats why I look at it like a roadblock instead kmof a blessing, I'd prefer to code from scratch but since an ocean of games are already made in the engine and it isnt likely to end, i'm forced to deal with the engine instead of doing it myself.

Think of it like RPGMaker games, they did all the complicated coding in the program itself so people could easily make small video games--a dream most gamers have, especially RPG fans. I have no interest in it myself because I would code the game in a legit language, but alot of people use it...so many in fact that its become a game tag in itself. Ren'py is similar, but the big difference is that it allows straight python to the core--the dev just doesn't guarantee the results of actually using anything not verified for the engine directly.

A ren'py exe is literally the python compiler running one layer of code to read the game code, that layer translates the ren'py game code into python before compiling it.
(insert math gif here)

Its made to simplify making VNs without much learning curve, although there are also some sincerely complex features that require learning like it was real programming...its the approach they took to doing it (leaving pure python) thats the odd part...its also why i'm intruiged personally, most people like it because they can use it without learning to program...I like it for the fact I actually can still really program

It's simplified because RenPy is the game engine first and the programming language second.
Actually its python first if we're getting technical.

python compiles engine code.

engine passes python exec.py file if included.

compiled engine translates game code to python and passes inline python code directly in a formatted order to create the game.

Things actually more complicated than RPGMaker in that respect.

But ya, its designed so you have no need to gaf about python to actually make a basic VN and thats the entire point in a nutshell

So basically the store upped the prices and people stole them instead of buying them at BS prices? Big surprise...Ubisoft lol.

You know that they sparked the whole steam terminology change of course...people made such a commotion (particularly in the UK) that because steam can't change the actual sale terms they agreed to with the companies that they were literally forced to change the TOS to basically add the truth we were all well aware of...crap part of that situation is it forces us to accept them as the new sale terms and actually takes away our ability to complain if our games get yanked off the store and removed at any point.

We should be boycotting steam into fighting for sale rights but since its not directly tied to steam and no public idiocy has been brought to the forefront everyone is just sitting back accepting it...and basically we're screwed.

Most important fight we could ever take up and nobody cares at all lol. Shows the stupidity of the fickle mob heh.
