The best way is not to accept random friend requests on Steam, usually users that intend to scam do that.

Serious users either have friends in common with you / comment a reason for adding you or you might see them in a familiar place you frequent, but even then you are not sure.

Also, it's non-related to this, but I have seen some users try impersonating traders on platforms like SteamTrades so just double-check the person who comments and their profile and details.

when talking about trades as a subject,

lestrades (steam trading place) admin got hacked. I wish them all good but my warning goes to any forum like places especially for any trading place, here and there (example lestrades) dont hold keys, passwords or any sensitive data at private messages.

you can never know who is reading your private messages

Yeah, I agree with you.

In general avoid links sent to you, even if you know the person. A lot of the time users fall for this because it tells them to log in and you do that without checking if you were already logged on through the browser or if the user doesn't take a look at the link URL. And be careful when you permit giving access through your Steam Guard app since you can easily give them your account.

He most likely fell into that scam by that method, due the bot sending the same message to users again

True story. It was in the 1990s. My father received a subpoena to deliver his death certificate to the court so he could attend his last will hearing. I don't know what kind of drugs they were using at that court but it was clearly stronger than LSD.

And because of the wonderful bureaucracy, he spent another week proving to all those pen-pushers he was actually alive.

Good thing I know who's reading my private messages...

OK, I'm not entirely sure... I know this week it's Ezra from Mossad, Tanya from FSB, but I'm not sure about CIA because if Joe's wife gave birth, Jeffrey is probably replacing him, unless he's on holiday - so it could be Sandy... Yeah, sorry about that. I need to check that last part. 🤷‍♂️

For The ppl that has friends at steam.
If you receive a play list invite from them do not click on that link.
If you do, your account will be hacked.

1 That Friend nick account that is sending you that link is hacked
2 You probably received other playtest links at your email or steam chat.
Maybe some of you will remember from few months ago, most of steam users
continously was getting invites for free deadlock game invitation. Do not fall for it.

3 Do not get in to any links of any kind of play test invitation or anything free
4 Steam just watch you get hacked and when your items and balance is gone,
You can only recover your account. There will be ZERO help for your items lost or disappeared.
Know that they are not on hacked persons side.

5 Once you get hacked this play list invite will be sent to all your friends list,
just like you are sending (hacking) them, it will basically risk your account and your relations.

6 in this hack link you see at the picture comes with a bar code, so ppl will fall in to trap more easily.
7 DO NOT TRUST THE BAR CODES THAT YOU SEE TOO
I logged to steam and got 2 "friends" sent me that message, one of them was aware of it and he told me to don't click on in becausei it was scam.
I was about to post about it on this forum but then I saw luckily Retro informed the Lair about that. (y)

I see lowest price right now for Skyrim V Special Edition
3,99 eur

I haven't bought it yet because I told my self I'll buy when I'll complete Oblivion, I think it will never happen because I can't finish it, I still have the save file somewhere but I don't have so much free time to complete such a big game.
Right now for the price I've to buy it, lol it cost me 10% less (3,59 eur) if I buy from the bundle because I already have Morrowind and Oblivion Save 53% on Elder Scrolls Summer Bundle on Steam
