The book was unintentionally idolizing fascism and that's because Heinlein spent a decent part of his life in the military and the military operates under the same rules as any fascist regime. That's a characteristic of many early Heinlein's works. Many other SF authors pointed out his xenophobic views toward aliens in his books and even in those books where aliens weren't evil, they ended up dangerous for the human race.

Later on, Heinlein made a huge U-turn - I guess as growing up intellectually and as an author - and his novel Stranger in a Strange Land became the "hippiest" SF novel ever.

So, for starters - there are no "leftists" in Hollywood or anywhere in the US mainstream politics. Even Barry Sanders would barely get into any European Social-democratic party - and that would be in its right-wing part. The movie is a great vision of Paul Verhoeven, the man who was always ahead of his time. he recognized fascist elements in the novel and only exaggerated them. That upset real-life neo-fasicist, but gave us another masterpiece.

i'm glad your the writer and not me...for two reasons this time

I'm a nerd. I read thousands of books in my life probably and the SF and horror genres are among my favourite. And when I say "SF", I mean SF - not Star Wars or any other Hollywood fairy-tale set in space.

Don't get me wrong - the original Star Wars is a great trilogy, but it's not SF. It's essentially space fantasy. Apparently, Lucas wanted to make a movie based on Herbert's Dune, but he had no rights. Still, you can see many influences in SW. Later Star Wars movies were trying to get more "sciency" and they can be categorized as SF, but their quality suffered so - who cares?

Thank's for Scars Above, partner.
Thank retro for living on an unknown planet for that game evidently 😅

No problem though.

I'm just your social media manager at this point, you got the heaving lifting right now...just doing my people thing so we have a crowd waiting when you get done...and a little language support ;)

Letting them know we're on the level, here to stay, and just gamers like them.

Until I start making Duck Fuck or something anyways :ROFLMAO: (Fuck Hunter--inside joke)

The thought of making a game inside a visual novel using fucking ren'py still makes me want to shoot myself instead of the shit on screen...but i'll make it work.

Really? We have very different definitions of the word then. Unless you're pretending they don't exist, a common tactic.

Most people turn the other way. "'If you are not a liberal when you are young, you have no heart, and if you are not a conservative when old, you have no brain." -Misattributed

Either way, the idea is more important than the author.

Flash Gordon, actually, he wanted to buy a license, but he didn't have enough money. But looking at Tatooine, it doesn't take long to wonder if Dune had an influence too. (And smugglers always carried *spice* there).
And flash gordon wanted to make a movie based on he-man or hulk hogam (mixed?)

Which later became suburbin commando  Sounds about right. (load of bs here)

Nope. I don't pretend. In the USA, you have liberals (centre) and everything right from that centre. Decades of "Red Scare" trained the US population in obedience and belief that even asking for something that's normal in almost any other country in the world is the reason for them to be branded "communists" or, at least "socialists" - like health and social security, education that doesn't force students into debt for the rest of their lives, trade unions fighting for the workers' rights...

So, yeah, while the US public is throwing around labels like "left" and "right", those labels can't pass anywhere outside the USA. Sure, Hollywood would like to pretend they're "progressive" and "open-minded", but, again, only in their own territory. There is xenophobia in most blockbusters. Bad guys are always from the same countries, all other nations are stupid, and people are incompetent... They're open-minded and ready to fight for the "rights" - unless it hurts their profit.
