I always thought the name Genesis was better, because Mega Drive is something boring about computer hardware.
But if you additionally know the code names of Sega consoles, then a little more logic is visible, because this name is (indirectly) connected with Earth.
SG-1000 and Sega Master System - There was always a complete mess here in the heads of both developers and marketers, but then everything got better for them, look further (Mark III and Mark IV accordingly).
Sega Game Gear - codename: Mercury.
Sega Genesis - codename: Mark V. Greetings from SMS devs!
Sega Nomad - codename: Venus.
Sega 32X - codename: Mars.
32X/Mega Drive *combo unit* - codemane: Neptune (never released)
Sega Saturn - codemane: Jupiter.
Dreamcast - codename: White (or Black) Belt. Yep, they screwed up with this console by all criteria.
My first real court offense in life was for stealing...mercury and going back to get the hedgehog
At least it wasn't uranus I suppose
Guess that makes alot more sense and proves americans were in fact trying to be special incognito
As a dev (or The Dev lmao), I completely understand. Nobody pays attention to developers in truth...you have anime fans who will take note of artists and producers, fan of any series that will take note of directors or authors / screen writers, you will VERY rarely ever hear a programmer or developers be praised in any project unless they are social...and even then they will be praised for their actions in that light or their personality, never their code.
Programmers and Devs who understand the code usually dont have time (or an attention span) to be hardcore fans of other devs, we nod our heada in respect at each others work and constantly compete or learn from each other...but its never acknowledged by the general public because they don't understand it.
When I gave respect to other devs in my projects, it was just that...respect, love your work, you kept it real and didn't get a big head, cheers. I might has well have said i'm coming for your throne in all reality

its just how programming works...I gave them a shout while we were nothing intentionally--so later they'll realize it, not now.
Not to grow off their fans, not to impress other people...for them, and them alone.
So when we get big, they'll know I meant it.
I know pos uses python, when he realized I was working in ren'py the first thing I said to him was...I could use some competition if you ever feel like trying it out
