When I was a kid I played more games, because there were more games. Anime was less common. Now there is plenty of anime, especially the isekai kind, that I like, but everyone seems to hate on. I remember school setting being more common decades ago, which didn't and still doesn't interest me, but everyone else seemed to like it.
Because isekai is overused, but the school/college setting is overused too. I like college settings as a writer because it makes it easy to introduce a bunch of different characters without the need to explain why that character is here or what they are doing. So, it's practical for a writer, and players can identify themselves with those characters. We were all students at one point, after all.

use phoenix down during a certain
haha...one of the few times I used a hame genie or whatever it was on PS1 at the time, I had them locked in a slot end game after playing it multiple times. The story in that game made the rest worth it...and knights of the round destroyed everything if you did enough racing (gold chocobo was the key here)
I played one of those, since it was connected to RS in some way. There was a crossover costume. It was on two discs.
We didnt get those here as far as i'm aware...I played later between a hacked PSP that I modded to run off my monitor during the PS3 era and a hacked PS2 using translated ROMS right on disc...and only after playong SO4 The Last Hope, which I put more hours into than any other PS3 game on my life, any game aside from probably destiny of an emperor for NES which I got stuck at one point and kep replaying or the cartridge erased my saves after so many years. SO4 had the worlds greatest grind for platinum and I enjoyed the game so much I was 70% there before I realized it and determined to finish it...a good 60 hours of my 1500+ was spent running in circles on turbo while I slept using a rubber band, some foam, and a penny to keep the controller in the right setup

That game was truly iconic and I recommend it to any RPG fan, but after that much time to do absutely everything...the gain you got for doing it was worthless--I could never play it again and I've started and tried a few times since. Another great game is that hidden gem I always mention Resonance Of Fate from sega where you have guns in an RPG, but that one was for the gameplay itself and the gun customization and strategic map.

DMC Devil May Cry was legendary on PS3 as my first real DMC title (I ignored the older ones even though friends were playing), but its terrible ln PC to me for some reason with the camera not working the same.

Games I highly recommend on steam right now from my favorite series:

SO4 - far better than the new one.

Tales Of Graces F (replaying on PC and no love lost at all)

Tales Of Vesperia - Remake, cant speak for the original but they got this one perfect.

DMC 4 - I hate nero but its the best for controls an story plus you get Dante.

Trails From Zero - As classic as they get and one of the best and cheapest trails on PC.

Trails In the Sky - The first as far as i' aware...still the best story of them all. Estelle owns as an MC.

Trails of Cold Steel 1 - The first was incredible--as classic as the new ones get with all the right additions.

Resonance of fate - you simply wont find another game like it.

Bayonetta - If you like DMC, must own.

Ironocally, not a single one was actually created in the last 5 years, maybe remade or remastered...but not new.

Valkrie Drive BHIKKHUNI - Better than, but just like Senran Kagura, which is good itself believe it or not...nudity aside entirely although i'd patch both to avoid getting blinded by bright censorship

Tokyo Xanadu eX+ - Another lost gem of an action RPG? mix of Senran Kagura battle style with actual RPG mechanics...i've looked for many like it as far as quality and found none, but its similar to Dusk Diver in a way...with more story.

Ys: Lacrimosa Of Dana - just...ya. 100% this aside from nightmare.

DRAGON QUEST XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age - again one of the best remasters and 100% fully.

Because isekai is overused
I do agree that a lot of the time it's completely unnecessary. I'd be perfectly happy for it to just be another world, without the need to bring someone over from ours, or very occasionally, a third unrelated world. Even still, I am yet to tire of it.

A lot of shows set up an interesting story, but never follow through on it. Kind of annoyed at how often it builds up to something that never pays off. Often, even if you do get a sequel, it goes nowhere.

One of my favorite types is the journey. If they're traveling a lot, they can see new things, and while they might have some ultimate goal, the journey itself is the story. So I feel less disappointed when it ends.

But you know how it feels, how people behave, what they do. If, let's say, I make a story set in the company that translates and subtitles movies, most people wouldn't be able to identify themselves with that experience, right?
Sure they would...they've all seen Fight Clubs Hummingbird Movie Scene :ROFLMAO:

I obviously know how they behaved in high school...thats why I stopped going, well in a sense.

Speaking of the summer sale, it's hard not to remember this game. It's so rare for Activision with their inadequate price tags to have something with such a big discount, and Crash in particular:
Of course, a few years ago, those who buy bundles had the opportunity to get it, but now it's time for Steam users too.
I've already tried to play a few levels, and it seemed to me that this is a fair remake, in which everything looks as familiar as possible, only with modern graphics, without any significant indulgence for the modern audience, after a few levels the game starts to get annoying, that is, everything is as it should be.
