Btw do you trust to login with steam password, to giveaway website as keyhub or givekey.ru? I don't trust so much expecially with websites with ".ru" demain. Some years ago I used to join many giveaways that required and my account was hacked. It was an account with only free games, so I didn't care so much. I don't want to say that those website aren't safe but I have some doubt about it.

The way I understand it, you are not entering the password on their site, but on Steam, and Steam relays your identity to the website. So you are not telling them your Steam password, you are simply providing them an identifier - they will be able to see which Steam account you have, and any public information there. The same way that Indiegala cannot login to our Steam accounts even if we have connected them to Indiegala.

This is just my understanding though, if someone knows of a danger here, let us know.

As long as you have two step authentication I think you're safe.... assuming that your email password is different than your steam password.

Log in to your Steam account first then you won't have to input your password again when you get redirected for logging in with your Steam account into these giveaway sites. This way it's perfectly safe, I think. You'll notice instanstly if you get redirected to a faked Steam page that asks for your password again.

I use it too. I have to say that years ago when my account was hacked I didn't have the steam app auth.

This is a good thing if you have cookies enabled and it is a nice solution. I surf internet without saving cookies and all the time I've to write the password then. I use cookie autodelete too to clear temporary cookies after 1 sec of current session. I could set on whitelist steam cookies.

Yes I have it, it is safer, it is a bit an hassle but it ok. Better hassle then hacked:ROFLMAO: Don't hassle the off

In that case there's one more check you can always perform - verify the site certificate (click on the padlock in the upper left and then on certificate):

To come back to your original question...
There is a reason -many people on - FreeGameFindings on reddit do think the .ru giveaways are not perfectly safe.
The keyhub giveaways do not have that problem.
And it is not just about hacking your Steam-account. A site could be perfectly legal, but it can still be used to get personal information about you!
If you cannot use a website without giving personal information, you got to be very careful. Check, check and double-check.✅✔️☑️
..
Btw full disclosure, I use keyhub, but not .ru. It wants information I do not want to give to Pouting.
(And I also use the method MadLibrarian described on other sites. So first log in on Steam, and then if the website asks for the steam credentials, you only have to click on ok. If you have to fill in your password again, there is something seriously wrong.)

From the site: Colmen's Quest is a turn-based fantasy RPG. You play as Colmen, an aspiring monster hunter, who is on a quest to unveil a dark threat that haunts the village of Valkirk. You will explore Valkirk and its villagers, descend dusky dungeons, fight monsters and eventually collect a bunch of loot and treasures.

Maybe you misunderstand me. I do not mean the information from Steam. That is minimal, and you can hide nearly all your personal information (even on a public profile). You can use another birthday, and another address, and so on. Your partner would not recognize you from the profile. ;)
I mean information you need when you want to participate in a .ru giveaway. They will try to get more personal information from you.

If you mean data mining forcing you to login with social platform to get a key, those info can be also private too with fake id account. It always depends from the user which info is willing to share. I think most users don't care about it and they login with their real accounts.

yep they sucks informations from our social network and resell them to data collectors services, they don't have to do anything, special api's do the job automatically

Guys, I think you're forgetting we're talking about Russians here. If they want to know, they'll know.
There's this cold war era anecdote...

A mummy was found in Egypt. The archaeologists could not determine its origin. Then a Soviet advisor offered his help. The mummy was delivered to the Soviet embassy. After two hours the Soviet advisor came back and said, "His name was Amenkhotep the Third, born 1265 BC, became king after murdering his uncle, ruled for five years, on the third year of his reign the Nile flooded Luxor, on the fourth year the Hittites attacked."

"How did you find out??" - the archeologists asked

"He confessed." - answered the advisor
