I think I fell for this trick in the giveawas 😅
I won Double Cross but I don't know if it is a legit key, or a temp one.
On steam it looks like a real key. in my licenses It sais retail.
5 Oct, 2021Double CrossRetail
I don't want to give a negative review without being sure. is there a way to check?

He is giving away 2 copies of each of the games above so I am 99% sure its from aliwnware.
I can almost certainly say that is from AWA limited access giveaway. I do own a copy of Double Cross myself and it is certainly very dubious what the activated from the limited access giveaway states when you activate it. Those unsuspecting victims not knowing of this giveaway will most certainly just give a positive feedback for it and they will get away with it.

See there is no difference.

These are newly added directly from the AWA giveaway I took
AWA gives.png

I used my secondary account (created due to steam giftcard region locking issue) and activated the AWA Double Cross which we can see there is no difference to my permanent hold copy on my main. This also gave a +1 to games count. But I believe come Oct 11 everything will be removed.
DC2.png

I can confirm its the real key, Maybe that's how alienware is trying to combat bots, by saying its 'free weekend'.
I can buy Adventures of Chris Soundtrack, which wouldnt be possible if I did not own Adventures of Chris
Nowadays for soundtrack you usually will not be required to own the base game to do so. Let's look at the description here.
ChrisST.pngDBDST.png

For Adventures of Chris it say does not include base game while for Dead by Daylight's Stranger Things it says base game is required in order to play.

So with the above we can say for most certainty that what has been given out on the giveaways are most probably those taken from the AWA giveaway and are limited access which will be revoked come October 11 just like the previous giveaway of Heliborne Collection :cautious:

Well, I'm really annoyed by this. I accidentally clicked on one of the Double Cross giveaways because it's a game on my wishlist. I shouldn't have to go read the description, beta and free play keys shouldn't be allowed here, especially because IG charges you like it's the full game.

I really hope I don't win or it's an instant negative from me.
It's a really sad thing how in order to level up these people exploit what shouldn't have been done in the first place.

Yeah, I do some of these giveaways only to give a negative. I hate cheaters.
I treasure my precious wins (which are far and few) to get games that I can hold permanently. :ROFLMAO:

Anyway I think perhaps we could start an initiative here to at least prevent active members on this thread from getting into fake giveaways. I could certainly add 1 to the list

Squadron 51 Prologue I've read is an October free play game that will be removed after October 31. Similar giveaways are like below. So this is not a permanent hold game thus beware! :)

Thanks, wasn't aware of this one. Maybe we should make a thread of the cheat giveaways.
And then tell the winners that they should give negative feedback. Just an idea.

That is quite tough to take in. I mean if I am buying games from a cheaper selling region to funnel to a higher priced region based account I can understand but the secondary account is created in US where most of the game prices tend to be one of the highest in anywhere. I just have to try and see how I can make the best out of this situation.

I am mainly looking for games though but there is no way to trade games unless it is in the form of a gift from what I understand. So what I am getting from you is that I purchase some items (which I am not aware of at this point what can I buy). What can I get that will have the least penalty if I were to sell off the traded item in the open market? Thanks for the tip! Really appreciate it! 😄

Many games have 10-20% higher prices in the EU than in the US because of VAT. Countries like Israel and Australia often have prices that are even higher than in the EU. You can check the regional prices for each game on steamdb.

You could buy anything on the Steam market, like cards or TF or CSGO keys or skins, whatever. If you want to do it quickly I'd look for a frequently traded item where the price difference between the sell and buy sides is minimal. Higher priced items are better because you need less transactions then. Also the fees are lower percentage wise on them than on low value trading cards. TF2 Mann Co. Supply Crate Key Steam Community Market :: Listings for Mann Co. Supply Crate Key seems to be the most obvious choice. They recently dipped in price from the usual 2 EUR to about 1.75 EUR and are currently rebounding. If you hold onto them for a bit you might earn back the fees and a bit more.

Same user. Stopped posting to the forums in August when they started to give away Back 4 Blood beta keys. I think they found it more beneficial to be a level cheater than to hang around on the forums.
IndieGala should really change its behavior. The giveaways are swamped with cheat-giveaways.
You could say IG is actively supporting this cheat-business. I will not buy any game from IG till they clean up their act.

I think we already have a thread for giveaway reporting just that it isn't very active. What we can do here is for those who are active in commenting or reading is to let them know of ongoing giveaways for keys that will expire after set amount of time. Lately some giveaways from AWA and such are for keys that will disappear in set amount of days but theses keys mask themselves well to be made to activate as though they are good long hold keys.

Just found https://www.indiegala.com/giveaways/card/double-cross/755254
Is this the same 'Bestacinza', https://forums*indiegala.com/members/bestacinza.428150/ we sometimes see hereabouts?

We haven't seen him commenting for quite some time. Personally I do enjoy his sharing of information from time to time but still making bad giveaways to gain points isn't very ethical in my sense.

Very good advice MadLib! I think I might just follow on the TF keys which seems to be the most obvious choice as they are exchanging hands pretty frequently. I still think it is stupid if I were to have games on 2 separate accounts and getting my head over where my games are when I want to play them. So with this method I might give it a try and hopefully I won't suffer too much from the fees Steam will steal from me over this :ROFLMAO:

I still insist that we should have community mods since Indiegala Staff and Support isn't able to clean up the wrongdoings that are consistently being thrown out and making unsuspecting victims think they won something great when it is quite obvious trash. I mean AWA can do such a thing why not Indiegala? :cautious:

As long as you have a key for it it should remain forever. Only games that you have from "free to play" button on steam get deleted along with the game on steam. If they are from a key they stay

I hope your messaging crusade gets noticed :) I would like to see a small difference or faster consequences for ga's like those. It's unfair (and mean spirited) to the winners but to people that want to gift those games too (form past bundles).. It's impossible to know which is which.. And all those people will keep trying to give those keys away even AFTER the timeline they can be activated.. Which is double bad

I am sure we will lose those games. AlienWareArena will not let us keep those 4 games after deliberately putting on their website that it will retract the keys.
Example: "Play Double Cross for free on Steam until October 11th when the game will leave your library."
