Phew! Finally got some time to sit down and catch up with the forum.
I think more so because company don't want to lower the sales of the remake because of the old game. Let's be frank. Many remake or remastered don't deserve the price tag they come with. So if the old game is still available to purchase, it would lower the sales more.
Personally I like how bioshock or darksiders do things. If you buy bioshock, you get both original and remastered for the same price. Same with Darksiders. You buy darksiders warmastered, you get original darksiders with it. So they are prioritizing the customers.
Then exists like Rockstar. Removed older gta games from steam without any last sale, sells definitive edition exclusively only on rockstar launcher for pc.
The bolded part caught my eye - I've got a complicated relationship with prices of games: on one hand I'm cheap and not that well-off, so I want to get the very best deal possible, on the other hand I feel like way too many devs (especially smaller ones) have devalued their games way too much with low prices and constant discounts. Like there are games out there that cost $5-10 normally, but they do deep sales all the time, so it just feels like a waste to pay 5 bucks for a "1-dollar-game". So I simultaneously want good games to earn their creators good money, but also want to spend as little as possible - like I said, a complicated relationship. It would've been much less complicated if I were carelessly wealthy
100% agree about the total BS that is Rockstar's approach to selling their old games, they go from low to lower all the time.
FreaKill hasn't been online (steam) for 9 days, I'm getting worried... I sent dm to both him and
-v-, and I hope they are safe...
Thanks again for reaching out! Evacuating to Lviv with my family was exhausting (luckily mostly mentally) and I practically stopped checking my usual haunts, which wasn't all that healthy, reading through the lair helped with decompressing and once again reminded me that life goes on.
