About the poll at the start of the thread - no jrpg? no scrolling shooters and/or run'n'guns? You're killing me, almost literally 😭
oh well, I've voted for:
  • platformers ('cause Super Mario bros., Crash Bandicoot, Mega Man, even Super Meatboy and many-many others for every platform ever)
  • fighting games (the most beloved one - Guilty Gear XX #RELOAD: Midnight Carnival, also pretty much adore Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, TEKKEN 7 and Street Fighter X TEKKEN)
  • survival horrors ('cause I'm a HUGE fan of the Resident Evil, Dino Crisis and the original Silent Hill trilogy. There were two mobile survival horrors that was good too, trilogy Darkest Fear by Rovio Mobile and Nowhere by DeValley)
I'm also a huge fan of scrolling shooters and run'n'guns like Thunder Force IV and/or Contra Hard Corps for Sega Genesis🤟

oh King's Field! I played only the first one for Psx emulated in a Psp, it was so hard I couldn't go far but the graphic was so good for a psx.
I prefer King's Field to Dark Souls, but it takes a while to get used to. You need to explore (there are secret walls everywhere) and get rewarded with equipment that makes survival easier.

If you ever want to try it again, start with 4 on PCSX2 and use this cheat to raise your rotation speed a bit.

Then, if you enjoy it, revisit 1 (USA, not the JP one) and then 2. (y)

A bit before your time Dante:

oh, I know that cover, was researching some of the CPC/ST library a few month before the war))
European gaming (if I can call this gaming, 'cause I'm talking more or less only about covers) was strange, but sometimes it had the best covers.
Like this for example, best cover-art in all the Mega Man franchise and one of the greatest for the NES game:

I'm still searching for the artist, 'cause it's simply gorgeous🤤

Thanks for your suggestions, I don't know if I will ever retry again, I need more time and patience for those kind of games :p But I really dig in this kind of atmospheres.

ahah, that wolf thing is killing me XDDDD
It has the vibes of the wolf pretending to be Little Red Riding Hood's grandma. 🤷‍♂️

Check Echo Knight series, same engine but it's "point 'n click" (sort of).
