Month-later edit: Just crossing out some things I don't need anymore, before anyone wastes any time trying to send 'em my way. (You never know!)

I like the raffle system for this giveaway because it gives everyone a fair chance to win, but I worry about a deluge of new users over the course of this week diluting the odds for the more active members. Worse, some people might decide to game the system by creating a bunch of fake accounts. There should be a safeguard against that. Maybe exclude any accounts younger than 1 week?

As for fairness, I think that active members should be rewarded with better odds. Maybe give users more tickets based on their user rank. (e.g. new member=1 ticket , member = 2 tickets, active member = 3 tickets , etc.) I feel that someone like me should be near the bottom of the odds totem pole compared to users with thousands of posts.

Just an idea. I realize it's more work to manage a weighted draw.

It might seem a little self-serving coming from someone who's not new here, but I would agree with excluding anyone who registered after the initial announcement of this giveaway. I don't have anything against lurkers, lurkers are people too. Just seems like a good idea to safeguard against individuals creating multiple accounts just to get extra chances on this giveaway. (Yeah, I know, a few folks already have multiple accounts on this site.) That said, such a rule wouldn't rule out anyone who's entered thus far, so it's a moot point for now.

But I don't think post count incentives are a good idea. Whenever there's a requirement to have X number of posts on a forum, it tends to result in the forums getting cluttered up with worthless post clutter from people who don't have anything to say, yet are compelled to say something anyway.
